The Ultimate MPG thread.
Good morning all....it's been a while since I've logged on until today. Recently purchased a 25 Tremor 3.5 and the wifey a 25 Tremor Expedition. Love both except the mileage for both! Coming from a 23 Suburban RST 3.0 and a 24 Trail Boss 3.0. Loved the mileage but that was about it. Ford's are better all-around in every category as far as I'm concerned. Obviously both being the 3.5....hopefully the mileage will improve with some more miles and warmer temps. So far...both are averaging around 15.5-17.2 consistently in the frigid Iowa winter with mostly windy days lately. The 3.0's would get 22-25 in the same conditions and temps.

Mileage will increase with more miles and warmer weather.
lol...We only owed $6500 on the Suburban and only $12500 on my Trail boss when we traded. So only having to take loans out for around $33k each. The wifey makes pretty good money and I don't do too bad myself.
Speed. Keep it low. Bricks aren’t very aerodynamic. Watch the boost gauge. If it’s making boost it’s not making good gas mileage. Horsepower is addictive but it’s costly. Keep idling to a minimum. Keep the tires properly inflated. Keep a clean air filter in it.
Sooo.. I am making a massive thread dedicated to MPG... Tips on getting the best bang for the buck. I ask if you have anytips post them up. Or any links... I will keep this thread update... And will delete the BS.
Post 21 and 22... Otto's post very informative, be sure to check it!!!
TLDR: higher octane doesn't improve mpg nor does it automatically add power. Octane is a measure of resistance to ignition of the fuel. Higher octane allows higher compression. Modding for MPG is kind of pointless.*

1. Set cruise control at highway speed (any mph.just want it to be a speed that you won't have to adjust for the next 5 to 6 miles. )
2. Once set , now is the time to hold the OK menu button to reset the mpg stats.
Not doing these two steps prior to your next "ok button hold for reset" reset is often overlooked and the displayed numbers you have been seeing/reciting may be inaccurate.
Calibration mentioned in the 3rd print 2011 F150 owners manual. I'm sure it's in others but that is where I found out about the process.

My latest MPG long range check: I did 1,635 miles over my vacation. I averaged 19.25 MPG (hand calculated). This involved over 1,000 miles highway driving at 70-78mph with much of the rest being at 55-65 on surface roads. No "city" driving.
We probably had a payload of 750ish pounds between me, my wife and our luggage.
My 3.5 Eco-boost has 113,000 miles on it. Falken Wildpeak AT4 tires 265\70\R17.
I have a vague recollection that I got well over 20MPG on the same trip several years ago (with the same truck with far fewer miles) but I may be wrong.

I drove from Ruston La to Atlanta Grady Hospital
twice. I was able to do with one tank of gas!
pic is for fuel left in tank
