I always do either 87 or 89, and try to avoid ethanol, as it does decrease your millage.

On another note, I averaged 25 mpg for a 50 mile portion of my drive today. With the other 150 miles added in, my total average was 20 mpg.
That many variations?? Wow, all we have here is what I previously mentioned. Even the smaller gas stations only offer 87, 89 and 93, and ALL of them use the E10 mixture. Wonderful benefit of living in-between Horse Country and Florida's largest retirement community. There ain't a single station that carries anything but the E10 junk, however, as far as my knowledge goes, there isn't a station around here that sells E85, either. For many miles, actually. I just wish I could fine ONE gas station that sells pure gasoline...

That isn't too bad. I assume you have the 5.8? I have that engine with about 2 MPG better than you, but I'm 2WD.

That's sad. It hasn't been a decade yet since they've been putting that stuff in our gas, either, and I can remember right before they did, our gas was about $2.60 or so around here. When they started mixing it, it did drop, but only by a few cents, and then it started going up to the $4's and $5's... Gosh I'm glad it hasn't done that again, recently!

From Jackson, MS to New Orleans I got 21.2 MPG with a 75MPH average. I can't believe a full size, 4x4 truck can get this kind of MPG. South of Jackson is pretty hilly too.

Before this truck I had a 2004 GMC Denali with a 6.0 and was getting 12MPG. To almost double that MPG with a full size 4x4, I am completly blown away. Thanks, Ford! I never thought I would own anything other than a GM, but I got bored with their interior and tech features and decided to get the Ford, best decision ever. If you have any reservations about this truck, dont, I can't think of anything I dont like about it other than a few features I wish the XLT doesn't have (HomeLink, and Center console). Other than that, this truck is a BEAST! I hear folks talking about the EcoBoost, and that was never really on the table for me, but after seeing the MPG this gets, other than 5 less HP, and little less torque (I will never pull 10K pounds), I would rather have a solid V8 than a hopped up V6. Although I love the idea, and efficiency that those trucks get. They need an EcoBoost V8.

Have a good one!
Hope I get these numbers. Buying a new 2013 f150 soon.

I can't believe the numbers I'm getting and most people don't. Maybe my truck is weird. 2013 ecoboost with 3.31 rear gears.
This trip started at 6800 km and an average of 13L /100 km or 21.8 mpg imp
At 7427.4 km I'm at 10/100 or 28.3 mpg imp

The Ultimate MPG thread.-image-1325423257.jpg

At 7592 still at 10/100

The Ultimate MPG thread.-image-852905001.jpg

At 8051.3 still at 10/100

The Ultimate MPG thread.-image-3550261074.jpg

Total trip was 1287 km or 785 miles and I used 135 liters for a trip total of 27.05 mpg
This trip was from Calgary Alberta to Kelowna bc and back thru the mountains and on the cruise the whole trip.

Just filled up my second tank of gas (breaking the engine in) & did a 350 km highway run at 3000 feet altitude (Alberta). Flat highway with a few rolling valleys.

(Truck stats in my sig.)

1100 kms on the Ecoboost motor so far, Full tank, empty truck with me, no focused driving - just cruise control and let it run at 110 km/hr.

Results:
1) first 175 kms with a tiny tailwind - 9.8L/100 km (about 24 mpg)
2) return trip 175 kms with that same wind now at my 11:00 - 11.2L/100km

Truck computer estimates a 1100+ km tank.

I know its early, but I am VERY happy with these numbers so far. and the truck wants to go faster all the time. Looks like I got a good one.
