My truck really doesn't like E85. The bottom fill up was my third tank of E85 in a row and my truck was reading a little over 74% ethanol. After my last fill up at the top it was showing just 9.8% ethanol and the fuel mileage just keeps getting better.

Maybe im missing something, your truck tells you the ethanol content of the fuel?

I wonder if my Limited will tell me if I've had too much ethanol, I mean alcohol.

I didn't know they would do that.

Default What mileage should I expect with EcoBoost?

Hi.

I'm getting roughly 16.5 average mileage (mix of city and highway miles) with my 2011 F150 XLT EcoBoost SuperCrew (5.5 foot bed) 4x4 with no load in the back. I get about 22 average on the highway.

When hauling a 5,000-pound travel traveler, I tend to average around 10.8 MPG.

When comparing with other F150 owners without EcoBoost, this seems to be pretty good. I always use synthetic oil, never mess with anything except regular gas.

Anyone getting better than this?

Thanks.

FWIW, I have almost the same truck, but it's an FX4 5.0, 3.73 rear, with a cab-high canopy. I do right at 18 in the city and 23 on the fwy. The only extra stuff I may have done is use an AiRaid SynthMax dry air filter (the new F-150s don't do quite as well with a K&N, the engine heat tends to cause the oil to evaporate and get on the MAF sensors, which causes all sorts of other problems. Fortunately, K&N great warranty took care of the repairs I incurred). Oil is just the Ford semi-synth I get with the Works Package every 5,000 miles. The fluids in the diffs are synthetic as well (Royal Purple). When pulling my 6x12 trailer with the Road King inside, I still manage about 19.5, maintaining about 60-62mph.
Just some additional considerations for you. Good luck and hope you get everything set up the way you want it.

You should put your truck in the F-150 hall of fame

I think you may have used the wrong terminology. I don't think Ford has a semi-synthetic oil. The Motorcraft Synthetic Blend oil only has additives included in the base conventional oil. The oil itself is not synthetic. It's the additives that are synthetic.

Default Results are What Count

That is true. However, isn't it the results that count, not whether the description is 100% accurate? I know dealers have, for years, misrepresented the actual functionality of fluids they sell, as well as motors, and more. Yes, the Motorcraft Synthetic Blend is not a true synthetic similar to Royal Purple. It is a dino-based oil with synthetic additives. But it works, at least for me. The Chevy Volt is one vehicle that comes to mind that wasn't properly represented.

In any case, I am very happy with the results I get with what I've done to the truck. The only thing I forgot to mention is that I also run my tires at 5psi over the sticker specs. I got minimal extra wear and no change in handling. My truck has just passed the 62,000 mile mark, and I'm finally getting ready to change out tires from the originals.

Picked up my 2013 Screw with 3.31s, I'm a little disappointed with the 15.5 MPG with mixed driving. Also, I leave my truck idling a lot with work and it eats through gas... Has anyone tried the economy tune?
