The Ultimate MPG thread.
Just filled up my second tank of gas (breaking the engine in) & did a 350 km highway run at 3000 feet altitude (Alberta). Flat highway with a few rolling valleys.
(Truck stats in my sig.)
1100 kms on the Ecoboost motor so far, Full tank, empty truck with me, no focused driving - just cruise control and let it run at 110 km/hr.
Results:
1) first 175 kms with a tiny tailwind - 9.8L/100 km (about 24 mpg)
2) return trip 175 kms with that same wind now at my 11:00 - 11.2L/100km

Truck computer estimates a 1100+ km tank.
I know its early, but I am VERY happy with these numbers so far. and the truck wants to go faster all the time. Looks like I got a good one.

My computer says 11.1 MPG right now at about 1/3 of a tank in. That's what happens when you idle around for work and never get above 25 MPH most of the day. And if I do go on the road, it's usually hauling something. I think my last tank was about 12.5 MPG. 09 5.4
No reason to lie & mislead people. I keep my truck under 1500 rpms and use the engine torque to move the truck, not the revs.
I had a run a few days ago driving 89 km/h (yes I was THAT guy on the highway) and truck computer was consistently reading 7.6L/100 km - 8.2L/100 km. Slow - yes, but the engine was sitting about 1000 rpm in 6th gear. Had it sit there for about 10 minutes on absolutely flat ground (Calgary to Airdrie in the ditch/slow lane).
The truck WILL do it. When I get my Scan gauge setup (mounted where I want it) I will mess around and get some video. Doubters gonna doubt - but driving habits are most of it.
Nothing BS about my numbers, they are exactly as they were the entire trip. The picture was the only clear frame from 1 minute of video (too much vibration and sound cutting out). Video was taken 100 km into the trip, my buddy behind me in my old Pathfinder kept telling me to speed up because people were passing me - haha.

Fwiw, I posted this about a year ago, but it quickly got buried:
I got some good results from our ~2400 mile road-trip.
2011 EB, Supercrew 2WD XLT, 3.15 gear, 14-16000 miles, conventional oil, Injen intake, bak-flip bed cover, and [gasp] 87 octane fuel.
We had 6 passengers and a bed packed full of luggage. Interstate speeds were 70-75 mph.
Results were, by tank:
miles truck-meter pump-meter notes
569 23.4 24.0 only tank on pure gas
448 22.0 22.2 more hills, e10
601 23.7 24.5 some stop-and-go but a lot of 55 mph limits, e10
552 22.7 24.1 rain storm, e10
201 22.5 22.8 continuation of storm, e10
Total was 2376 miles and 23.0 (according to gas station, hand calculated)-23.7 (according to truck meter) mpg, which I thought was great, especially considering the load.
With 25000 miles on my truck, my lifetime average is 20.2 mpg.

Those are GREAT numbers guys ! Looks like I'll have to go run a few more differing speed tests on my truck, thanks & I'll share the results when I get em !
Have I mentioned how much I love this engine yet ? haha.
