I'm an NRA instructor here in CT.
I carry every day.
Being left in your truck unattended may not satisfy your local laws as far as the responsible safe storage of the firearm.
In CT. it's not.
Check your local / state laws.

You could take it down and pull out the barrel and take it with you maybe. If it's a Glock it takes 5 seconds.

I have my Keltec P11 on my side 99% of the time. If I do happen to take it out of my holster, it goes under the console...since I keep it folded down all the time. I'm left handed, and carry on my left side which is not ideal if the bad guy comes up to my driver side window, but it wouldn't be too much of a hindrance.

Honestly…What does that accomplish? The frame has the serial number and replacement Glock barrels are relatively inexpensive, easily purchased without background checks, and are 100% drop in ready without any gunsmith fitting. It would only prevent an unarmed active shooter from breaking into your truck prior to shooting up a public place on a whim IMO!

I think you misread his post, he is suggesting taking the barrel out, then carrying the disassembled weapon. Not leaving things in the car.

i like this idea, but as a right hander, it makes it very uncomfortable to try and draw from that angle. almost need to go to a left handed holster for a more comfortable draw.

I have my CHL and carry one of mine frequently. My rig has a front bench setup with under seat storage in the middle, which is hidden well with the center folded down. Since I can't carry at work, that's where it waits my return. Long trips it goes in a door pocket.

I said the gun was inside the console; your "glass enclosed" reference is irrelevant.

Many posters in this discussion are leaving guns inside locked trucks, for whatever the reason. The comment was to point out that leaving a gun in the truck makes it vulnerable to theft, no matter how well it's hidden. Ignore the risk at your peril.
