this is my thought process , why would someone want to harm me and my family what did I do to **** them off ? My doors have locks and we have security systems in Canada and a phone in my bedroom that has 911 on the speed dial , we pay taxes to pay the police to protect us , why have a bigger gun to protect you from criminals with guns , because they can get a bigger gun than you . Its a vicious circle , I guess that's why we think differently .

That's what 99.9% of people who get robbed or shot think too, doesn't stop it from happening though, unless they are carrying themselves.

When seconds count, the police are only minutes away! No one but ME is responsible for my, and my families safety.

Not all of us do up here. There is a lot of transient workers around here, lots of crime lately- murders have started to escalate, sexual offenses, etc. I've lived here my whole life and its only in the last decade that things have taken a wicked turn- to the point that I feel the need to have a readily accessible gun. With that said- under no circumstances will my house be without my rifles. And I don't own a pistol, but my 12 gauge will mop up any threat on my property- be it coyote, cougar or people.
With all the property I've had stolen, 3 break ins to my house in 5 years while we slept, and the wild predators making their way into town- I've had enough, and I'm not waiting for the RC's to saunter over when its convenient for them. I have daughters. And, if the choice needs to be made between them being hurt or me doing a little jail time for sawing a carny in half that decides he's taken a liking to one of them- then the decision is easy.

Back to the topic. These mounts are interesting! Keep em coming!

When seconds count, the cops are minutes away! If someone decides to enter my home without permission in the middle of the night he wont get the benefit of the doubt, Im not going to ask him why he is in my house and what his intentions are. I could much easier live with the life of a dead thug on my conscience then the life of my wife or child. It is my job as a dad and a husband to protect my family if it ever came to it, god forbid it ever does, I live in a good neighborhood but that is no guarantee of anything.

As far as the thread topic, the map pocket is where I normally put my pistol when Im in the truck but being right handed thats not the best for quick access, I think the mount under the steering column is the best for me.

No I'm the guy that usually brings fast air and artillery to a gun fight, most break ins here as stated earlier are teenagers who run if someone farts to hard
