Here is my update on my DARA Holster installation.
As you can see, there is plenty of clearance for a good grip to draw. Using the RAM mounting system you can make very small adjustments to get things just right. Just a note, this system is intended to be mounded under that dash. I didn't like that location and purchased a longer RAM arm, so this is not the set-up one would get direct from Dara Holsters.
Installation was straight forward. Remove trim panel, drill holes, install with nuts and bolts provided by Dara Holsters. They also included a kydex backer that I didn't think was needed for this specific application. Easy peasy.
This is a light bearing holster. Glock 19 w/ surefire x300 Ultra. The holster has the RAM mounting molded into it and secured with screws. The quality of the holster is top notch, obviously quality control is a huge deal to Dara Holsters.
For me, this is NOT a replacement for a good strong side or appendix holster. My reason for wanting this is for longer drives and to attempt to save my leather seats as long as possible. I'm already getting wear on the right side bolster from the grip of the gun. There is no leaving the gun in this holster for quick runs into the local 7 Eleven or equivalent, NEVER EVER. This is simply another option to carry a bit more comfortablely on extended drives and to save my seats from complete destruction in the first year of ownership.
I'll update after a few weeks of use to let everyone know how it's holding up and any cons. Hopefully this has helped some.
^^ yeah I plan to install something similar in the wife's truck, but mine is a regular cab with the jump seat, so other then under the column I can't really find a good place. So far I'm pretty happy with this setup. Need to put a little foam in a few spots to rid of the rattle but otherwise it will provide quick draw when needed and also keeps it concealed.
Hey, I've been looking for a place to conceal a handgun in my truck. I live in Utah and I have a concealed permit. I would prefer that the gun not be directly visible by any passengers or passer's by. I'd love to see what some of you guys have done?
Not sure about Utah, but concealed carry in Texas means on your person.
So long as the gun is not in plain view it is permissable to carry in your car. I am not able to carry at work but would like a good place to leave it in my truck.
