I reside in Texas but never really felt the need to carry on my person nor in the truck. Recently I traded my ol 98 supercab xl for a 2010 supercrew Flameblue with lots of chrome. It does catch the eye. Three evenings ago I backed into a parking spot outside of a local taco bell. There was an open parking spot on each side of the truck. As I was exiting the truck I noticed two young men sitting in a car in the next spot on the drivers side. The driver made a point to get my attention as I was opening the door. Something looked "off" about these guys so before I got out I grabbed a ball cap that was on the passengers seat with my left hand and used it to cover my right hand as if I was concealing something. When I got out and shut the door the driver complemented my truck to which I said thanks and continued to walk toward taco smell. He made it a point to keep me talking and suggested that I trade him his keys for mine to which I said " I don't think so". These guys had obviously been doing some partying and the drivers left hand kept moving from the window sill down into the drivers compartment and back up. I just knew that he was going to come up with a weapon and call my ball cap bluff. Eventually I managed to get to the doorway of the resturant the whole time rebuffing his repeated offers of a vehichle trade. The last thing he said as I walked in was "yo man that's f*d up" when I refused an offer to pick up him and his "old lady" and take them to dinner.

This whole event had my spider senses tingling from start to finish and they sat there the whole time I was inside until a police car pulled in and parked. As I was leaving I told the officer about the incident and he told me I might want to consider taking precautions to insure my personal safety.

So Long story even longer I too have been researching ways to have my ruger 9mm accessibly concealed inside my truck. I definately want it accessible quickly because it would be a very bad end to a very bad dream if an assailant's bullets were flying before my weapon is even in my hands. However proper concealment is a must because having it stolen and used hurting others would be nightmare that may never end.

glad to hear you are OK. i kick myself daily for not carrying in the car and furthermore getting my CHL. i am so sick of people telling my i don't need a gun. when you encounter something like that and truly feel helpless, it changes your perspective.

I carry a gun almost everyday. It's either on my hip or between my seats.

Well, since this thread turned all political, was there any good info on how to actually mount a handgun and still be fairly concealed?

I got tired of reading dozens of pages of Canada vs. America, and anti-gun rants.

I'm looking for a way to mount a handgun either next to the driver seat (2013) or along that black panel on the console area, to the right of your right knee.

I installed a Serpa Holster using Blackhawks quick release system for my Berretta M9 (92F). Install took 20 mins and was too easy. They sell Serpas and kits for many different handguns.
