Here is what I used.

It is simply Industrial Strength Velcro (made for plastics) stuck to the plastic on the truck. The Velcro Holster is a Blackhawk industries (About $8).

Worked extremely well in warm to cold environments.... Not so much once it got HOT outside (well hot is a relative term... we will say low 90's (North Carolina Summer)). Then the Velcro started to pull away from the truck. I don't have this issue with my Tahoe and think it can be chalked up to the ridges/bumpiness of the texture in the F150's area there. It is smooth on the Tahoe.

A few caveats: I do have my CCL. Have been pulled over (random inspection) and once Identified this to local/state LEOs they've seen no issue with this set up.

Not the perfect method (in hot environments) but works well, and cheap, in warm to cool temps.

I like that, simple and affective!

I'm from Canada and I agree with everything said in this thread for the most part. Our gun laws SUCK. We wouldn't be able to carry weapons in our vehicle openly like this -- hell, If you are planning on transporting a pistol you have to call the firearms office and let them know where you're going and the general route you're taking. It's a joke.

I would love having a pistol mount like this in my truck if it was legal. I don't think it's really necessary to have it mounted for 'ease of access' but in the off chance that you have to stop a violent/life-threatening crime from happening I can appreciate how having it close by would be helpful.

The picture of the AR-15 in the center console is a little over the top though, I don't think you'd ever need something that requires more than one hand to hold during a confrontation.

I don't know about the rest of Canada, but on the West Coast it's getting ridiculously sketchy. There's always shootings, stabbings and rapes happening and there's nothing I hate more than hearing about rape which is getting all too common now days.

I respect you guys down south for your gun laws and think it would be awesome to be able to do this to my truck. Though, the one that's strapped underneath the steering column, I don't think I'd feel safe with that between my legs!

Why? Is it going pull it's self out, turn around and fire it's self?

Get into a car accident, dashboard is suddenly crunched up and the gun is pointing down between your legs; a piece of broken windshield gets lodged into the trigger setting off the gun; suddenly you're half the man you used to be

You realize how much of a stretch that is dont you? For that to happen with my pistol it would have to get turned around pointed towards me and then circumvent 3 redundant safety's to actually fire the gun. I would be more likely to win the lottery than for that to happen.

Those shards of glass will end up in all kinds of weird places; it's not unheard of for them to disable safety, turn guns around and fire multiple shots.
