Pistol mount
Actually there is only one (1) State that doesn't allow Concealed Carry. That's Illinois.
Most all States are "Shall Issue".
I think a majority of the States have "Open Carry" as well. I wish we did here in Texas.

Some will get that, some won't
And as usual it was started by an Anti-Gun person. It was destined to happen.
OP asked how to mount a pistol in a truck and all of the sudden the libs start freaking out and blaming our belief in protecting ourself and loved ones?
This is not a Toyota Prius forum dammit! For the most part we all have common sense with reality.
Back on topic, while I like the under steering wheel location it would only be good if the holster can be removed just as easily as the gun itself. Otherwise an empty holster is an invitation to have your truck broken into to see if there's a gun hidden elsewhere. I also think that 20% tint or darker would be a must if you have that setup.
PS: I have an AR-15 in my house, does that freak out all the folks in Canada? Do I need it? I hope not, but I sure as hell don't want to be outgunned by the bad guys if the situation in my house presents itself

While I can understand your actions, and in many area's of the south and other isolated area's this is how it goes, but in most states I can think of this would cause a lot of trouble for you.
I don't think any state approves of warning shots. That whole backstop thing is an issue
It also varies by state whether protection of property outside the home (hell, even IN the home) is justification for use of force. I would have to refer you to your state laws on that.
Then there's the whole fight or flight thing. There are actually states that require you to try and run before defending yourself.
Lets not forget there are gun hating DA's out there that would file charges based on their idea that you instigated the scenario requiring deadly force. That be a no-no in every state I know of.
The best possible situation is to live in a state that a) Has a Castle Doctrine that covers not only the home, but personal property inside and outside the home and b) Has a flight or fight law that protects the defender and c) has a good Samaritan law that makes it clearly legal for you to defend someone other than yourself with force.
VA is better than most states, but have to pay attention to what you are doing.
For example, let's say someone were to try and Carjack me with a gun, and not thinking this was going to end well for me I draw my EMP. The criminal flee's.
It's all over, right? Well, not really. To fully protect yourself you still have to call 911 and have the police come out and take a report. The reason for this is the Criminal could actually file a "Brandishing" complaint against you and you could be carted off to Jail. No ****, it's happened.
I only bring all this up for those that live in countries that can't carry and think we're all a bunch of 6-shooter toting John Wayne clones, we aren't.
It's far more complicated than you realize.

I have fired a gun in a stituation that I thought could be self defense... I guy was trying to steal a car at my house when I heard him and confronted him... he started at me and I fired a shot over his head as a warning... he fled on foot... I could have dropped him dead but didnt think it was wise over a car.... If he had proceeded to come at me I would have wounded him for sure.
Was I scared? Your darn right... I didnt want to shoot a guy but I didnt want him to touch me either. I called the police before I went out to stop him... they never even came to investigate. I called them back and asked why? They said the closest officer was a long way off and was busy....
I have a CC permit but dont really carry a weapon often... but it is my right to do so if I choose.
My wife and both my daughters go to the range with me and all can handle a firearm safely. My youngest (17 now) taught her boyfriend to shoot a couple of weeks ago. That was fun to watch.

I think its more, not to spook the public, out of sight out of mind. Plus a would be mugger would think twice because he wouldn't know if you did or didn't have protection.

In a lot of states you are required to tell LE that you are armed if you are stopped for any reason. In gun friendly states the officers for the most part aren't bothered by that. In others (California comes to mind) if you have a CCW permit and inform a police officer upon being stopped you may find yourself spreadout on the pavement with a .40 cal being pointed at you
^+1
I think so too. Even though people in open carry States say other folks don't seem to be worried about it. I'm sure that when it is first allowed there are some surprised/startled people.
As far as carrying a handgun in your car/truck...here in Texas any & everyone (with few exceptions) can have a concealed handgun in/on their vehicle as long as you are 18 years old. No license required to do so. If stopped by police there is no requirement to tell them either.
It is always safe to assume the guy in the car next to you is carrying.
