Is It Time To Remove The Keyless Entry Buttons?
I could have sworn I accidentally opened mine into the garage door one time, maybe that was my old truck and I'm tricking myself, because I just tried on mine and it won't drop the tailgate after all
Nope -- use them frequently and really appreciate having them. Also still appreciate having them be physical buttons rather than capacitive touch sensors.
Now, if they wanted to switch up the materials they use for the B pillars overall, then I'm all ears. I shouldn't have to put on that OCDplug pillar PPF on a brand new truck.

Why do people say "I hide the key in the truck".
I would never assume a person using the pad to lock the key inside left the key sitting in view.
It's like saying "instead of locking the door with the keypad and leaving the key on the center console, I hide it then leave for vacation/lake/bike/hike/run/errands/gallon of milk.
haha
Carry on...

I figured it was available to any electronic release latch and a keypad.
It is not a special code or anything, it is literally the 2 buttons that control the gate. Just the same as there are two buttons to lock the doors. The special codes are only used to unlock the doors. Or the factory code if a custom code has not been input.
Simply walk up to the door and press the two correct buttons (together) and the gate releases.
Just the same as when you press the two correct buttons (together) the doors lock.
I considered petiioning Ford to get rid of the 1985 keypad, but given how much everyone here seems to love it, I changed my mind. Oh, and yes, you can live in peace. Truth be told, I'm honestly stunned by how much everyone seems to love the keypad. I'm glad that Ford is listening to those who love it. All manufacturers should listen to their customers, and have the features that people want.
I do miss it. I had to carry a bundle of keys with me on a bike ride a few weeks ago because I couldn't hide my key in the car.
I'll have to get a key cut I suppose so I can leave the fob inside but I don't like doing that either. Time for a faraday bag I guess.
I used to carry the Ford FOB (without any keys) with me and just drop it in my pocket (zippered) for bike rides. I guess I can forego the use of my keys for bike ride day with the car as well.
The touch pad was nice to gain access when you don't have keys with you or to lock the doors without having to go inside to retrieve the FOB.
No
But I do have a button on the remote and one on the dash to push twice and they open the tailgate.
just confirmed that I enter the code the press the 5/6 button and the tailgate opens.
