I’d rather have it than the app. The app is just slow for when you’re at the vehicle

I can leave keys, wallet or phone in the truck and always get in.
I added it to my truck. It was not difficult and I use the key pad very often. Every time we go on the boat of which is 2-3 times a week during the summer, I leave the key hidden in the truck and lock the doors.
When I go on vacation and park at the airport, I hide the key in the truck.

Probably not the only one who thinks that, but it would be a shame if they got rid of it.

I have used the ford app, but have a feeling that it will be a pay service like other manufacturers are doing.
You may not always have decent cell service either, and sometimes the app is pretty buggy for me.

I personally wouldn't know anything about the wind noise. I was really surprised when I purchased my current F-150 that it still had a whip antenna, so I simply replaced it immediately, so I've never heard any noise from it. I also never once stated that Ford screwed up the F-150, anywhere, ever! If I truly felt that way, I wouldn't have purchased the truck! Every single vehicle on the road, from every manufacturer could do well with some things being changed.
I literally quoted your exact words. In context.

That's as correct as quoting gets.

I don't recall ever seeing anybody else complain about too much wind noise on their truck because it had an antenna but that's just me.

We have a "modern" set of buttons on our Explorer. You can't even see them until you use them, they are digital/LED/touch screen/whatever.

They suck. They take five times longer to use because you have to get it activated before you can press the buttons, and they often don't work with gloves or work well with this that or the other on your hands.

It kind of sounds you probably just shouldn't own a truck, it's not trendy and hipster enough for you.

You need something that people probably haven't heard of until you tell them about yours
HAHAHAHAHA, i was just thinking, when i had my explorer i really like still having the keypad but how it looked clean since it was hidden...then reading your reply i remember all the times i had to tap it and wait for it to light up, then sometimes when i tapped it to wake it up, it would take that as my first number then didnt work.

To the OP, dont they offer wireless ones now? I thought the Bronco owners were moving theirs to the gas door, might be an option?

Actually, you didn't quote me correctly, at all. If you read what I wrote below, I very clearly stated that others had complained about wind noise coming from the antenna on this very forum. Feel free to search for the posts. As I said the wind noise was never an issue for me, because I removed the antenna immediately. There is zero need to have an antenna on the fender of any vehicle in 2022. Hell, GM started using windshield antennas on some of their vehicles way back in the 1970's, so this isn't exactly cutting edge technology! Again, the wind noise was never an issue for me as it relates to the antenna. I'm just not sure why any manufacturer is still using that type of antenna in 2022, when it can just be built into the windshield.

The antenna sucks! Ford could put it directly into the windshield just like every other manufacturer does, and get the same exact reception. I don't live among corn fields, so yes, my reception hasn't change, even a little. Perhaps, it's diifferent for those who live in very rural areas. Again, rural or not, the technology has existed for a long time to move away from the 1960's era whip antennas and not have an antenna cause the wind noise that many have complained about or needing to remove it every time they want to run their vehicle through a car wash.

I had no idea that this was possible. Thanks for sharing.

How in the world is this thread already over 100 posts? We all know by now that 1 person on this earth hates the looks of the keypad so bad that half of the posts on this thread are from them, while the rest of us find the usefulness of it so great that we somehow overlook how terribly those numbers make our trucks look. Has the OP thought about just removing his keypad and letting the rest of us live in peace, or is there a petition going in to Ford to remove it?

I considered petiioning Ford to get rid of the 1985 keypad, but given how much everyone here seems to love it, I changed my mind. Oh, and yes, you can live in peace. Truth be told, I'm honestly stunned by how much everyone seems to love the keypad. I'm glad that Ford is listening to those who love it. All manufacturers should listen to their customers, and have the features that people want.

I am jealous...I just tried it and mine does not open. Key code plus 5-6 button does nothing. Maybe I have to use the factory code instead of code I programmed in?
