Default Is It Time To Remove The Keyless Entry Buttons?

Am I the only one who finds the keyless entry on the F-150 (and all Ford vehicles) extremely outdated? While I personally never use it, I certainly understand the functionality of it. I just wonder if it's outlived its usefulness with apps that can unlock your door. I used to own a 1995 Crown Victoria that had what feels like the same exact buttons. At a minimum, I'm very surprised that they haven't at least updated the design to look a bit more sleek. Perhaps, more of a touch screen on that door pillar to enter the code? I feel like Ford has mostly done a great job with the 2021 redesign, but there are also some misses there, and the buttons (for me) are in glaring need of complete abolishment, or a redesign to at least make them appear like they fit in with the current century!

I use the key pad all the time when playing softball during the week and weekends. Makes it easier to lock the key inside and not have to worry about losing it at the fields.. The escape has the touch screen and I hated it..

I have used the ford app, but have a feeling that it will be a pay service like other manufacturers are doing.

I use it all the time and love it. Don't fix what ain't broken. Ford updates/changes stuff way to often (well all manufacturers)and that's why these trucks have so many issues and don't last.

I certainly get the functionality of it. I used to use it on my 1995 Crown Vic all the time. I guess I just didn't expect the design to still look the same way on my 2021 truck. I mean...the design of everything changes. Well....everything except these ancient buttons

I only say I hated the escape touch pad is because you never knew if you were hitting the button. At least with the 150 you know it is being pushed in.

They door keypad that Ford has retained while a lot of other manufacturers got rid of, is a large reason why I stick with Ford.

I keep my key in the truck most of the time and lock it in there. So I pretty much always use the keypad.

Best feature ever.

I personally haven't used the touch pad, but certainly like the look of it a whole lot more. Doesn't the Lincoln vehicle lineup all get the sleeker touch pad? You'd think they would have perfected the design by now, so it's dissapointing to hear that the touch pad doesn't work so well. It's shouldn't be that complicated to get it to work the way it should. It's not exactly new technology.

I had no idea that anyone was buying a truck or sticking with a manufacturer over a keypad. I guess I'm squarely in the other camp. Don't get me wrong, as much I really don't like the look of that ancient keypad, I wouldn't not buy the truck over it (assuming that I liked most other things). I can't ever think of any scenario where I don't have my phone with me, so being able to have the same exact functinality of unlocking my door without the key, and not looking at the ugly buttons from 25 plus years ago would have been a better solution for me. Perhaps Ford knows they have a lot of their buyers who actually these anicent buttons

Agree, it would be nice if it vibrated, or made a noise or something similar to a cell phone.. I don't know how it would work though....
