I use it a ton too. Love it. I had a jeep cherokee once that had an app to unlock and start it. I was ice fishing and didn't want to worry about my keys so I locked them in. The cell service was sketchy where I was. I had to walk almost 2 miles to get to a point I could unlock it. Then walk back.

Almost all of my standard PINs I like are invalid because they use the same key too many times. Ie, 1 2 2 1 is invalid because it is just the same key four times.

That's your sign that your PINs are super weak

If you insist on it I'd just consider the buttons to be 1-4, you don't have to use the numbers on them, there are four of them, just count to four and hit the first one, then hit the second one time, then hit the first one again

Can you do a four number PIN? Mine has always been 5 digits

Yes, the codes were 5 digits but I bailed due to too many of my attempts being invalid.

Are you seriously suggesting that a code that repeats keys (on a keypad that already superimposes two numbers onto one key) is a weak key? You are going to run with that one, are you?

So if you use a 4 then you can't use a 3?

Yes I am going with the engineers who designed it. That is why there are restrictions on all sorts of PINs and passwords, repeating numbers is often not allowed. Especially on one that's so short.

Also, incorrect, you can use the same button twice. On mine that are 5 digits, I only use 3 buttons, for example.

Your attempts were invalid? Did you forget your two button code?

Mine only uses 2 different numbers and buttons.
I was surprised that my truck was assigned such a simple code.

Try using a zip code of the place you were born, not your current home town.

At a minimum, I'm very surprised that they haven't at least updated the design to look a bit more sleek. Perhaps, more of a touch screen on that door pillar to enter the code? I feel like Ford has mostly done a great job with the 2021 redesign, but there are also some misses there, and the buttons (for me) are in glaring need of complete abolishment, or a redesign to at least make them appear like they fit in with the current century!
My son bought a used Fusion SE a couple of months ago (RIP to his SVT Contour). His keyless entry is the haptic kind that is under the door trim. It definitely looks nice, and I was surprised that a lower cost vehicle had that on it vs a physical keypad. Personally I prefer the buttons to using an app on the phone, but I have a lowly XL that I added the keypad to.

It doesn't seem to be vehicle cost, it's usability. Truck buyers are more practical and care about that it works, and works every time, than being hip and new looking like that. Our Explorer has the other ones, they suck to use compared to the truck buttons for a number of reasons
