Awesome, I just ordered my kit last night. Hopefully I will finish the sub box this weekend and will be ready to start my install.

And unfortunately this harness seems to have a flaw (at least mine did) in that the rear speakers are powered by the front speaker input. You can check if you have this problem by trying to fade the audio to the rear - you will have 0 sound.

This causes you to lose some backup/traffic alarms that only are played through the rear speakers. I ended opening up my harness and make a small change to keep the rear speakers powered by the original rear inputs. This solved everything, now the audio is perfect. I told plugnplay about this, not sure if he recognizes it or has fixed it by now.
Backup/traffic alarms aside, did you notice a sound quality difference having the rear speakers fed from the front inputs? I’m curious because there have been lots of reports that the lower frequencies are attenuated on the rear channels. I have always wondered if it would make a difference feeding them the (full) front channel signal.

This might be too simple for this thread, but I have my truck on order and I'm just trying to pick out some better speakers for the base system. I can't find much if anything on where the speakers are and what size they are.

I think it's 6 speakers? 2 in front pillars, 2 in front doors, 2 in rear doors? Some p[laces say 7? one more in the center dash? Does anyone know the size of the speakers in the front doors? Crutchfield says 6 1/2, everyone else says 6 x 9. The truck has been out for over a year, surprised it's so hard to find this information.

This is exactly what I am going through right now...gathering everything I'll need for a complete upgrade.
I was told by Crutchfield today to enter my truck's info on their website as if it was a 2020 instead of a 2022. If anything doesn't work right, they will replace them no problem.
This means:
Fronts are 6x9" but easily adapted to 6.5-6.75" with adapter.
Rears are 6.5"
I think I'm going with 6.5" components in the front and 6.5" coax in the rear.

Mike, the two front pillars are tweeters, the two front doors have 6x9’s from the factory and the two rear doors are 6 1/2’s from the factory. I have the XLT with the 302a package which also has a 3.5”Center Channel speaker. (7 speaker system) go to Crutchfield.com and select model year 2020 for your particular trim and they will provide you with the speakers that fit those locations.

I'll show my ignorance, is the 6.5 preferable to the 6x9? I haven't done anything with car stereos in 20 years, I just heard the B&O wasn't worth the $610 and the unleashed wasn't even available for my XLT. I know sinking $200 - $300 into upgraded front door and pillar speakers isn't going to be a life altering audio experience, but I play podcasts and audio books 80% of the time, I dont need anything crazy.

Congrats on the new ride (in 2 weeks hopefully) and thanks for the response. Shopping Crutchfield as a 2020 F-150 right now

Thank you! I was wondering about that center channel, some of the videos I see the trucks have it, others dont.

Ok, newbie vehicle audio guy here.

can someone put a list of speakers together including their optimal location for me?

I’m just looking to swap out the factory speakers with better ones. Nothing serious. My truck is an XL

I listen to a lot of metal (Slipknot to be exact!)

what brands and models does anyone suggest?

For some of the people asking what speakers and such - there are a couple of custom shops that are real helpful and will even cut deals for equipment in a subforum here,
