Default 2021 Basic sound system upgrade thread

Wanted to create a place for people to post any information or upgrades relating to the base stereo system on the ‘21s.

I’m particularly interested in finding out the stereo wiring for the 11” Sync 4 system. I’ve installed subs in all my vehicles and plan to do the same with my ‘21 XLT 302a, I just need to know the wiring colors.

But I’m interested in a seeing what people do with their systems, whether it’s adding the Kicker system or upgrading the speakers, etc.

Let’s see what y’all come up with!!

Default Any updates??

I was thinking of adding a small hideaway kicker sub behind my seats to give me the bump I want without having the **** all the way at 30.

I am curious in the same - found a truck, but it only has the base stereo and not sure it is worth a new order just to add the B&O
Is the head unit the same in either case?

Ive also heard that aftermarket subs will turn off when the engine start/stop kicks in. Making it a "requirement" to turn it off every time you get in the truck. I have the stock 302a package and would be interested in the "best" replacement speakers to get some better quality audio.

If the subs are installed correctly the start/stop isn't an issue.

I had 2 10" subs in my last 2017 and the start/stop never was a problem at all. The reason is because of the way that I prefer to install my subs.

I use a Scosche line output converter that also provides a remote turn-on signal to the amp based purely on whether or not it's receiving a signal from the speakers. If the head unit is on and providing power to the line output converter and the speakers are sending a signal to it then it will keep the amp on and therefore the subs working just fine whether or not the engine is running.

This is the exact setup that I'm using for my 2021. I've used this same setup on multiple F150s as well as a brand new Mustang and it always works great.

Once everything is installed I'll do a tutorial thread on how I did everything, as right now information on the 2021's audio system is pretty much non-existent. I'm kinda figuring it out as I go!!

The unleashed system is 4 pages long. Oddly enough, it looks like the front A-pillar tweeters and the rear door speakers are wired to the front ACM (it was only the A-pillar tweeters in prior years) while the rest are wired to the DSP behind the rear seat.
