2021 Basic sound system upgrade thread
Man, am I glad to see you!
? Is your truck 21^ or the earlier truck in sig?
So, I have RCSB XL base (101A) 4X4.
Did some planning/buying before truck arrived...
Will go with 6 1/2 in doors.
Planned on 3 1/2 mids in A pillar, but must have been looking at 2WD as I seem to remember OE 'tweeter' hole aimed at occupants. My truck came with pull handles (thank God!) and 'tweeters' aimed at dash/glass. My back up plan was in dash, aimed up like BO, as yours. (I like the dispersion of glass for mids/highs.)
So, any chance I have an advantage or space for mids in 4X4 A pillar?
Have you found the BO vent cover? Numbers? Like so many 3 1/2s, mine came with no grills, since it was my backup plan I assumed I would work around it later...now!
My truck seems to have only stereo out, split to doors (full range) and tweets (cap bypassed). I have not heard any 'active voice' ect. from any system in the truck, so I expect any bells or tones will be on the stereo line I interrupt to feed my amp. Anyone else?
(I intend to place an amp/dsp on the rear wall, for access to camper shell and axillary battery system.)
I had an opsodis system before, and do well for the few highs I can hear to be centered, probably under/through that mat if room there.
I highly recommend for any mid or lower bass speaker, door or such, to make foam rings to couple the speaker to the upholstery grill. (We have a foam merchant nearby, who gives away scraps from corners.) Keeps a lot of sound from sneaking around and cancelling out.
