Sync 3 Memory Issue
I just finished updating to ver 3.4.23188 using the process laid out by Bowtye8 (thank you). The reformat update seems to have taken. I will update the group with the results in a few days.
I complained to the Ford Corpaorate office. They had me bring my truck back to dealership. I told them it was a software issue. They wouldn't listen. They changed the battery and reset the Apim. Called and said it was working. Went to pickup truck and started it and now they ordering a new APIM They troubleshot and came up with it bad. Lol. I told them it was a software issue. They are covering under warranty and I don't have a warranty. Ty corporate maybe one day you'll actually fix it.
Has anyone else experienced repeated software update attempts along with this issue? I get the preferences prompts just about every time I start the vehicle. But in addition to that, if I connect wifi and search for a new update, it starts to update, eventually seems to complete, but it's the same version 3.4 22251 that was running before. Then if I click search for updates again, it will go through the same process, downloading a file, then ending up at the same version. It's as though it aborts without indicating there's a problem. So I'm wondering if this is going to prevent me from receiving legit OTA updates going forward. I wouldn't mind waiting until Sep/Oct for an OTA update to this fix, but if it's not going to work I'll try to get through it myself now with the USB after I find the files. I'm having trouble finding exactly what I need for MY2019 with map version NA 2 21. I don't want to end up downgraded to 2 20.
I downloaded the software off of Cyanlabs and then created the update usb drive. Went out to the truck and did a master reset and proceeded with the update. It took about 25 minutes and the update was successful. Display boots up faster, touch screen is way more responsive and faster, and so far it is keeping the display in dark mode where as before every time the truck was restarted it reverted back to auto mode. Appreciate the heads up and hopefully this is the fix.
As a last ditch effort, I deleted the rwdata files off of my USB and downloaded them again. Gave it one more try and it seems to have worked. I’m tired of messing with it tonight, so I’ll know more tomorrow.
