Sync 3 Memory Issue
Another satisfied customer of the @barrytone method laid out back on page 27. You can find all the files you need on Cyan's site. First attempt got the VER_ERR08 error code. Went ahead and did master reset then two soft resets, then tried again and it worked. Took about 30 minutes or so to complete the update. Don't be fooled after the first part when it says you completed the first stage and need to key cycle for the second stage to start. DON'T do it, just leave it alone and it will eventually restart and continue. After, only prob was my siriusxm was reset and won't show my radio ID or respond to activation signal, but then a refresh signal and a soft reset seemed to fix it.

Great you lucked out crossing all of the bridges over the canyon. How happy you must be to have navigated through the questionable, disorganized, and conditional passage ways on your own. You took chances and somehow avoided ending up with a bricked APIM. WE HAVE A HERO!
I have a 2020 F150 and have successfully done the memory clearing, as have many of the other posters here. This thread has been highly informative in allowing all of us to do this. I've been reading your replies and from your questions and responses it would seem you have not taken the time to actually look at the linked materials or even watch the following step by step video in its entirety, possibly more than once to make sure you understand the process.
If you had, you would see exactly how each step is performed and what you have to load on each flash drive. I would also suggest you use Forscan (that's free) and buy the $50 adapter from Amazon. Yes, you can do this with the "push these buttons to reset at the right time trick", but hooking up Forscan and just clicking the OK button at the right time is way easier and less prone to error. Use the video to see exactly how to perform the jailbreak and then how to load the daemon. Then stop following the video because you don't need to load any of the other stuff. If you get to this point, it should be fairly obvious how to download the rwcleaner version 1.1 script from FMods and install it on a flash drive, but I'll include that link too.

Also, as per one of my prior posts, execute the Ford Interrogator to confirm you actually have the out of memory error. I leave you with the task of finding the link for this towards the beginning of this thread.
You do not have to upgrade your version of SYNC or install the mod tools. Just execute the jailbreak, load the daemon, and then run the rwcleaner script. Take your time to understand the process first, then execute. Make sure to go slowly and even if you think a step is completed wait a few more minutes before proceeding.
Thanks V8. I have been traveling this past weekend and had the memory error happen during the trip initially at a rest stop...haha...timing... Anyway, I appreciate all you guys putting in the work on trying to figure this out, sharing the knowledge and you specifically for putting this post together so I have a pretty good idea of what is needed to try to resolve the issue as soon as I get home.
Keep on truckin' dudes!

You’re a far more patient man than I am. I gave up trying to help him long ago. Some people don’t want to be helped, because then they don’t have anything to gripe about.
I can't take any credit other than to simply post what I did. I think barrytone should get the high five as the major contributor on this, and i have to give a thumbs up to Akarpet for helping me through the final few questions I had.
You may be right. And I can see your point reading the prior posts, but it wouldn't feel neighborly not to at least give it a try! Hope springs eternal I guess.
Have been reading through this as I have an impacted 2019. Will not master reset anymore and is maddening at best. Dealer wants 100 for diagnostic but told me upfront that they would likely replace the APIM. Another dealer wanted 200, but claimed they could fix.
at this point, I am planning to buy the FORscan connector and give it a go. I am fairly confident in my ability to follow instructions, but do have some concern over doing something that may result in damage to system on the truck.
Apologies for any dumb questions, but I have been jumping all over and reading in different areas trying to find a solution. So - a couple questions before I take off -
1. Is the a significant difference in the methodology proposed by Barrytone and the jailbreak fix from fmods?
2. do both require Forscan, or can either be done from USB only?
3. mine will no longer do a master reset - should I disconnect the battery for a while to reset before trying either of the methods?
4. Does the current version fix the issue completely?
thank you all!
steve
Also - no nav; should able to get by with smaller flash drives?

2. You don't need Forscan for either method, as long as you can get the timing right to hard reboot the APIM via the power and seek right button. All you have to do is practice a few times and log how long it takes it to reboot (screen goes black) after you start pressing the buttons.
3. Use the power button and seek right button method to hard reboot the APIM several times in a row (eg hold the buttons for something like 5 minutes straight and let it do a bunch of reboots).
4. The current version publicly available from Ford is the version with the issue. Version/Build 23188 fixes the issue.
Stick with at least 16GB flash drives even with Non-Nav.
1. One method "reinstalls" everything (like reformatting a computer), the jailbreak simply deletes the contents of the problematic folder.

then insert separate usb containing 23188 for final upgrade?
thank you - sincerely appreciate you finding and posting a solution!
Late edit! Not used to working off my phone.

2019 F150
SYNC 3.4 Build 22251 ( what ever the newest one is )
System would always ask for confirmation about updates and wifi activation.
System would always change back to AUTO mode after I switched switch to Night Mode.
System would never remember the WIFI Password
Push to Talk ( on steering wheel ) would always tell me there is no Phone Book.
Just got the confirmation from the dealer that the APIM / APMI is going bad.
They are going to replace it but it is back ordered and they do not have an ETA.
