Sync 3 Memory Issue
My dealer diagnosed my 2020 F150 and concluded a new APIM is needed. The truck is out of warranty now with a cost to repair over $1000. After my complaint, Ford reduced cost to $375 which I find unacceptable. I believe Ford should issue a recall and fix not only mine, but all the others experiencing this same problem.
I have had five Ford Customer Service Experience contacts up to this point. When I ask why a recall hasn't been issued for a problem that Ford acknowledged and issued a TSB 22-2254 back in June 2022, I'm being told that there hasn't been enough complaints!

The issue there is that updates fail to install because of the unit being out of space. They'll need to come up with an (official) solution that can purge the logs and have repeatable results.
IMO, that's a stretch reason for a recall. At that point the dealer could be instructed to just disconnect the backup camera to solve that "distraction".
Joined the F150 forum today to find a solution to this problem. Add me to the list of 2019 owners who get the "Do you want to turn on the following features" screen at every start up. If having to pay to replace the APIM is the current solution, I'll be waiting for a fix update, and yelling at my screen like everybody else.
In talking to a few people, came to the conclusion that it would be difficult and not worth their time to find out that you ran just the jailbreak and a rwcleaner. As long as you don’t tell them or add a whole bunch of other fmod apps it shouldn’t be too big of a deal. The warranty part was my main worry too so I got the ball rolling at the dealer before I tried anything myself. Just to prove that there was an issue that I did not cause. Worst case, if they found out you jailbroke your apim they might not fix any issues down the road with that specific module.
During the past two weeks, I've spent just about every free moment of my time trying to find the best solution to this problem. I finally fixed it with the jailbreak and it was way easier than I imagined. I was hesitant to try it because I'm still (barely) under warranty and a new APIM seems better than anything, but I pulled the trigger once I found out that you can run any recent update from Ford's website and it will remove the jailbreak (I'm mostly confident that it doesn't leave any trace in the sync storage, but not 100% sure.). I travel across the Midwest for work and getting into the dealer AND them sourcing a new APIM would've taken forever. Not to mention, you can get a new APIM on ebay for like $400. If I f'd it all up, I'd get the ebay special and call it a day.
I'm sure it's been detailed 1000 times on this thread, but the fine folks over at fmod made it all real simple. For me, the most difficult part of the jailbreak was finding 3 USB drives 😂 Running the jailbreak, installer daemon, and rwdata cleaner fixed the problem entirely. I'm a tad upset I waited so long to do it. Hopefully Ford pushes out a new update that resolves the whole rwdata issue, but considering they've barely acknowledged there's a problem at all, I wouldn't count on seeing one anytime soon.
