im looking to upgrade my 2019 ford f150 tires. looking at either 33x12.50x18 or 295x70x18 ill
be using stock rims what does everyone suggest i have a 2 ich level
I would go 295 just so your tires wear evenly across without having to run them on lower than ideal air pressure. I also prefer added height so thats my 2cent
Tried this on the general discussion but didn't get any response:
I recently got 5100s installed up front. Saw with the rig parked at full wheel lock that the upper boot on the passenger side looks like it's being squeezed. Not to the point it's touching the piston rod but it's almost rubbing on one side. Like the alignment of the boot is off in relation to the shock. See pics. I watched plenty of videos about doing the replacement as I was considering doing it myself. One major point all tutorials mentioned (and the install instructions in the box) is to mark the alignment of the upper boot to the coil and lower mount before disassembling. I don't see any obvious marks on the strut showing this was done. If that step was skipped would it cause this?
If it's normal I don't want to waste my time or the shop. But if not I want to take it back and have it corrected. I'm OCD on my truck and hate having other people work on it but I was past due for struts and didn't have the time or space to get it done myself...
Here's some reference pictures for anyone needing or wanting them. Top to bottom is my truck on stock suspension with stock 275/55/20s, after 2.5" Motofab level on stock tires, and after level on 275/65/20s. No problems with alignment, no rubbing, still (barely) fits in the garage.
Equipped with 4A, a 4x4 F150 could make the basis for a bad *** AWD street truck ... along the lines of a Grand Cherokee SRT which, despite being 4WD like it's off-pavement biased brethren, uses it's AWD torque distribution for street-biased traction.
I could see lowering, mounting 22s with some fat rubber (in a square fitment, like 305s at all fours), tune + exhaust, etc.
Not everyone needs (or wants) a 4x4 for off-roading ... and not every 4x4 owner wants a lifted, big-tired truck.
Exactly! This is the method I want to pursue with removal of the rear blocks to drop it down instead of going further up
After Bilstein 5100 install . . . struts set at the 3rd ring, supposedly 1.26" (seems a little higher, but I like it) with tire upgrade to 275/60/20 - Falken Wildpeaks.

Same place I set mine at. Some days, I think it looks great and other days it seems incredibly nose down. I regret setting mine there but I don’t think I could’ve compressed the spring any more.

What do you mean by 3rd ring ? Can you change front height on stock truck?
