It appears that there is a run on these as all the older APIMs are failing quickly...my build date is Jan 16 so I kinda fall in that category of bad apims. Anyone work with Ford to get any goodwill assistance if your warranty expired? I have 40K on mine, just expired and so did the APIM......thoughts?

I see you have a 16 lariat....is that what you are replacing? and if so, do you still have warranty coverage?

Yes 16 lariat 24000 miles, warranty till 12/28/2019 then extended warranty kicks in. Was afraid not to have extended warranty due to all the electrical items, to much stuff to go wrong,

This APIM issue is one of the reasons I bought an 8 year 100K mile ESP from one of the online dealers. 2 weeks waiting for a part is a still a little ridiculous. The truck nav, radio, and everything else is pretty much useless while it has this issue. very frustrating

Apim failures have been a problem for 6+ years with Ford. Not hard to make it reliable, just more expensive.

Ok so now it begins, I contacted Ford in some foreign country...that person just shut me out, said I was being put back in the que...after 5 minutes it told me to hang up and it did it to me anyway...so I called back spoke to another foreigner. Asked for my case to be escalated....I don't think they know what that means but they probably hear it 100X's a day. So he told me my case is going to the dealer I am using and should call him tomorrow. That was even another joke, when Ford does not even have the right name....anyway I have a call for the dealer to call me back to get this corrected.....have a bad feeling about this....

UPDATE.....contacted for to contact dealer again, spoke to someone in some far off land for a second time. They did contact the dealer and the dealer then responded with all the data that they requested. Dealer said that they will most likely put up some money to replace the APIM, (not that they have see this issue before or anything) so I should hear back today with what Ford's offer is. This is just to let everyone know, that is you do have this issue and you are out of warranty there is light at the end of the tunnel, just need to keep on them and get around that foreign customer service.
