Good luck with that. They did the same thing to mine on my 2016... I reproduced the failure in the driveway (after driving about 35 miles to the dealership). I wasn't pleased. The solution? New APIM... like I told them in the first place.

yea this is their protocol, wont even think about ordering one till this does not work...as I suspect it wont. So that being the case once it is escalated and I already have a case in with Ford they will help via goodwill as this is just a waste of time and energy...I give this a 1% chance of working.

here's an update....picked up my truck last evening after they just updated the software...before I drove away I asked...does it work??? they of course said yes! So I drove 1 foot and the gps was off, lack of touch response to buttons and didn't even bother to try the bluetooth...so nothing changed! now I will make another appointment and waste my time for another trip. Called them right away...actually the service manager was not surprised, I could just tell by his reaction. So they want to pull the codes again and call Ford! This is a laughable situation.

I am contemplating just ordering a new APIM and have them install it, it's out of warranty anyway by 4K. So asking for what everyone's take is on the risk of me replacing this and it not be the issue. to me it appears that it's a 90% chance this is the problem. I will still try to get ford to put in some goodwill assistance money....What does everyone think?

You have all the hallmark symptoms. I would call Ford corporate and open a case. You'll have to go through the dealership song and dance, but having a case with Ford is the most likely way you'll get any goodwill.

thanks....I already opened a case with them last week before I took it in the first time. So we should be good. gonna call on Monday and have them order one. and if it fixes the problem 100% then Ford should help, it's a very expensive defective part!

Have same issue on my 2016 Lariat 3/16 build date.First time nothing on touch screen worked, windows didnt work and gauges inop. Took to dealer and they pulled battery cable off for hard reset. Went @ two months and radio would not work. Took in to dealer and they said unless it throws a code they cant do anything. Third time I video the issue with phone as it was on a Sunday. Took it in on Monday and was told Ford wouldn’t accept the video they had to see it. So next time it happen took to dealer, service Manager says to bring it in following morning. They take it in and do a update to Sync and tell me it shouldn’t happen anymore. If it does they will then replace it. Go out to drive away and once again it doesn’t work. They ordered APIM which is back ordered. Waiting for new one now.

yeap that is how it goes...if you are still under warranty then yes they have to go through their protocol, however if it is out of warranty then it is up to you to replace it. I don't know why Ford is so reluctant to replace these things when they know it is a faulty part. yea its expensive but its also the brains of the vehicle when everything works by it. I am requesting assistance for Ford this week...I already have a case out there.

did they tell you how long the wait is?
