APIM Module replacement?
OK...so I already replaced my APIM myself, but now the replacement is crap...so I need to get a brand new one from Ford. Does anyone know of a Ford dealer who will give me a good deal on it as well as program it to my vehicle ID for a good price...They are easy to replace 30mins...tops!
My September 19, 2016 built F150 Limited is getting a new APIM also. Screen would go black while driving, rear camera would stay on at full speed, screen would glitch when backing up. Frozen Apple Car Play, massage seats and other functions wouldn't work. I've not been given an arrival time yet. May be on back order like the others have said above.
Just got my truck back today with the new APIM. I decided not to mess with the FORScan changes and they never said anything about it. In fact, my seat icons were still on my home screen when I picked it up and all my radio presets were still in the right order like they just mirrored the old module. I thought that was odd.
all the radio stuff is in the CD player...luckily has nothing to do with the APIM or else it would be worse!!! I was concerned about my xm etc but come to find out that is controlled elsewhere!
So, I’m at the dealership right now with my 2016 Expedition, 28K miles and 1 month out of warranty.
This is a follow up to replace the APIM. Symptoms and verification on the previous service visit was loss of function when my iPhone 8+ was connected via USB. Any call or notification from the phone would lock up Sync. I was also experiencing GPS loss, reverse camera was also staying on once in Drive as someone else reported.
Today they installed the new APIM and the symptom remains the same. Was advised that it was probably a software glitch and they had contacted Ford Engineering as they had two vehicles reporting the same issue. They suggested upgrading to include ApplePlay which they are doing. Obviously this will be a work around as the real problem exists either with the APIM or the Software.
I’d be interested if anyone else had a similar experience along with any updates. Ford need to look into this and address it. I’ve heard a case is in place against Ford for the APIM and it’s a manufacturing issue so in my mind the current version of APIM is faulty and when a fix is available, should be a recall FOC correction.

Same story for my 2016 F150. I'm shopping for a replacement APIM but a bit confused about programming. Will a new module from the dealer need programming that can't be done with ForScan? Being quoted about $150 more for a new one over the used ones on the market. Dealer refuses to bench program a new unit even if purchased from them. I won't give up my ride for days.
