Sent PM. Panasonics have been proven to be more reliable. Now of course they're still made by a person so you will still have some that are bad.

Question guys, I read though this thread the best I could and it appears only the folks with Nav have had this issue. Anybody with a non-Nav Sync 3 have APIM issues? My 2016 without has given me no problems (knocking on my wood desk).

That’s a great question, I've got a 18 with navigation and intermittent APIM issues, but I haven't taken it to the dealer because its intermittent. I thought about replacing it with one of the Android tablets talked about in the 12" tesla radio thread, but the newest units require the APIM to function for Bluetooth connectivity and car play / android auto.
Does the non nav 8" Sync 3 still have car play / android auto?
Mine looses gps signal and Bluetooth connection fairly often, even the buttons to change radio stations stop working, however it works 100% when the phone is plugged in and using android auto. If getting rid of the APIM with nav and installing a non nav APIM resolves this issue, I would be all over it as long as I could use android auto/ car play with my phone connected for navigation.

It did happen with non-nav apims, all made by flextronics. I have heard of very, very few 18s having APIMs replaced for issues like what you described, but the amounts are negligible compared to those earlier 2016 units. Looks like you're in for a replacement soon.

Got an update yesterday that my APIM that was ordered on January 25th shipped yesterday. So should arrive in the next few days. The dealer has repeatedly told me that the APIM comes through different parts channels than their normal parts. So he wasn't exactly sure if they would overnight it, or if it would be a few days to come in. Interesting in Flextronics vs. Panasonic as my truck has a build date of late June 2017. My dealer has been absolutely awesome to work with through this process. They took all the info I gave them from the resets I did, the master reset, the Videos I shot from my phone and put on a memory stick for them and were able to get the APIM approved to order within a couple of hours of me dropping off the truck. With the APIM issue, the dealer told me that the truck threw 3 pages of trouble codes with all of them communications errors....Maybe the best advice to save time is to go into the dealer with a lot of information and documentation....It might save yourself several trips.

Interesting on the error codes....they told me they did not get any for mine but yet does exactly what yours does. Wonder if the dealer is just playing games here. But no worries they did communicate with Ford with my case number to get a resolution of replacement

Would love to see the error codes that your truck showed, any chance you can get a copy and share?

I never got error code, just locking up issues, Bluetooth issue, Apple car play issues, and lost of GPS on the NAV (when I was not using Carplay, due to the lockups).
