The idea behind using the radio power button is that it helps keep the kit cost down because there is nothing additional needed. Everyone has a radio power button.

On a different note we continue to iron out the SYNC 3 navigation quirk in the firmware and are still awaiting a new firmware solution from the engineers. For now, if you have SYNC 3 with Navi please know that your GPS will drift when the additional cameras are activated while in motion. It typically takes less than a minute for the GPS to re-cage but nonetheless it is annoying. I'll post an update once we have words that it has been resolved.

I'll be installing the system next week. What do you think about adding an extension Cable for the USB so I have easy access for when the upgrade comes out? Do you for-see any problems if I do that?

HuskerHarley,

You have Rostra Frontzone installed as well, correct? Do you know if there will be any issues using the Camera Source cameras in addition to Rostra? I'm not sure how the Rostra connects to the vehicle so I want to make sure they both don't need to hook into the same harness or something weird like that. Let us know how the install goes!

First off thanks for your service in the Marines. I'm also a serviceman in the Air National Guard as a KC-135 Pilot. Flew C-130's for a while in the reserves then jumped over to Tankers several years ago.

As far as the USB cable is concerned it's no problem to leave an extension attached and it will likely make things easier if the box is not accessible.

Thanks for your business!

Hi Chris!

Dont you think that the module will need to be power off and on at least ?

Since the module need to have the power taken off and on for it to "read" the new dip switch setting, I would at least think that it would need the same operation to flash a new firmware into it...

If power off/on is required, and dont have access to the module, you'll be left with disconnecting the battery or finding the proper fuse if you dont have access to the module.

And has it been confirmed that it will be "flashable" with an usb thumb drive ? (I wouldn't be surprise if it would require a computer with a programming software to download the new firmware...)

(I'm only speculating here...)

I hope to have some test to do soon!

Thanks!

Maybe wiring an On/Off extension switch side by side with the USB extension would work?? Just don't wanna have to tear apart once it's installed to perform updates etc.

Yes my bad you are completely correct. Sorry for the bad information previously and hope it didn't cause trouble for someone.

You will need access to the module so that power can be removed for dip switch changes. Once power is removed, the dip switches will be set to update mode, plug in flash drive containing update, connect power to module again. Update will flash. Then unplug power again, put dip switches back to proper settings, unplug jump drive, and reconnect power. Entire process takes a few minutes once you get access to the module.

Again, sorry for the confusion. I'll have the update soon and will post here when it's ready. Each person having the issue will then need to contact our support team for the update as it cannot be shared among hardware or it will cause problems. The update we provide will be for your vehicle only.

Thanks and will have it released in a couple days.
