So far I have been in contact with Chris from camera-source and I have only good things to say about them.
Chris told me yesterday (yes, he personnally responded to my emails on a saturday) that he did not have an ETA on the new firmware at present time but should have one soon.
As far as I can tell, the issues reported by me and others here are only present on the 2016/Sync3 vehicles.
The only problem present on the 2015/Sync2 is the fact that the OEM backup camera does not work at speed over 7mph. But that is for you to decide if it is an issue or not.

On occasion we run into a customer who is willing to do some advanced documentation on our products in exchange for a discount. In this case, TexasFording has really come through with some great instructions that will surely help our customers who want to tackle this project on their own. When/If the update is released to fix the Sync3 Nav problem, what is the procedure for installing?
I've decided to have my system install done by an expert...Concerned I'll have to take it back to the installer to get the update, make an appointment, drop off the vehicle, get rides to & from, $$$?

there is a USB port on the camera module itself. You plug in a usb drive to flash it. As far as the specifics Chris can tell us.
