Thinking
We have had a s4!t load of Chinese tourists this year. Saw quite a few on the Reno trip over the weekend. Also saw quite a few when we traveled to Cedar City/St. George area.
We have a lot of RV rentals, but I see more buses and vans being chartered for the Asian tourists than anything else this year.

JP....I was just looking up the Alaska Motorhome rental market and find that over 1500 are available during the summer. Most are corporate units, but like some places do, they lease a person's MH, and rent it during the summer months. The owner gets so much and the company the rest. It gets the MH out of storage and keeps it up and running, I guess. We used to do this practice at AK Economy RV. We sold Wilderness, BigFoot, and Thor products. We had a rental fleet of 16 units, all private owned, and leased to us for the summer months.
Alaska, according the the RV industries, have the most, per capita, RV's in the US. It was that was in the late 90s but thought it changed. I see that it hasn't.
We have so many Holland Alaska Lines buses, Denali Park buses, and just a load of others here being used in Alaska. The past 6 years has been wall to wall tourists The 08 09 years were somewhat lean, but that was everywhere in the US then.

Just got back from Alaska today... man did I fall in love! I'm already trying to talk the wife into a vacation lol. I've got a ton of pictures, I'll post some up soon
Called about my camper shell. Apparently ARE lost all records of the old serial number camper shells about a year back so I'm sorta SOL. The local dealer can get me parts but that's no longer my biggest issue. The struts are missing but also the brackets so I need to remove the buttons through the window. The dealer said they don't touch em when they get this old since it's a high likelihood the window will break before the Nut breaks loose. Bought a nut splitter to see if that'll work. I did find it mines the old z series most likely and bought a key for $3!
Bear hope everything is going alright, I will keep you and your family in my prayers

I don't know if I'd use a nut splitter on those. The shock when the nut lets loose could be enough to shatter the window. I'd soak tap, soak tap tap, soak tap tap tap them using Kroil, and see if they come loose that way. If not, I'd try working on them with a Dremel.
P. S. Alaska's on my bucket list

2100.....glad you enjoyed your Alaskan trip,. If you ever come to Anchorage, look me up. I know where the strip bars are. Good deal on the parts finds. The damn postage is tough to ship though. lol
I got the new bumper on Lit Red and it is so nice. Straight, clean and fits so well. I also crawled back under him and found why the shift cable is messing up. It seems that the link for the cable retainer was actually bent about 1/2 inch, and it wouldn't fully go into park. I pull the cable and with my 24 inch `1/2 extension, managed to get that dude back into the correct position. Now the shift lever is correct. I had to go under the dash next, only to find the adjuster for the pointed broken. Two wire ties later, and a stiff back, and it was again working right. Time to go pull that out of my buddies junk truck. Damn, I hate trying to get my big azz under that dash. Oh well, one more time won't kill me, At least I hope it won't.

Will do man, it would be cool to meet up! I am definitely coming back, even trying to convince the wife to move up for a year or two when she's done with residency. (I REALLY want to shoot my own bear rug lol) and it would be an amazing experience since I know I can't live there forever
I was lucky the airline shipped it for free .... in my checked bag and carry on
Put the glovebox door in my backpack. The toolbox door, marker lights, ford letters, 4x4 shifter, brake release, tcase lock light, under dash light, glove box light spring, glove box button, and brake booster cover w/ gasket (that was my recent hens tooth!!!) all went in the checked bag. Was 50.0lbs on the dot!
Used a leather man till I broke it lol, then next day stopped by the store and grabbed an adjustable wrench and hacksaw blades, the rest was history

Nice find. Funny thing is you had to come to Alaska to get them. I find that hilarious as hell.
We have so many trucks up here. It just the plastic items that seem to not like the cold winter weather and the fins on the cowl get broken with the ice and ice scrapers. Damn the luck. Still looking for the drivers side cowl panel. I bought a dash bezel off a guy on one of the FB sites. That is the last piece I want. This way I can do it up and also, my seat air bag switch can be mounted again and not rattle.

Man I had no idea the rental motorhome industry was booming quite like that. I don't even like driving a uhaul so an RV seems like a bad idea for just anyone to jump on on and take for a few hundred mile trip.
I see quite a few rentals out here, but the *vast* majority are privately owned (and most people are pulling 5th wheels... BIG ones). Of course, Alaska is typically accessed by air, not overland, so there'd be much more call for rentals up there.
