I she finds what she want and quickly. That way you can get ahold of that damn roller 51 engine. lol

I'm taking Red on a 120 mile run today. Going to go finish up the Expy motor. Time to button the bottom up tight. I just got the pan gasket and rear main seal, so that finishes it up. Then it's a ready unit in case I have to change it if the chains/tensioners aren't the whole problem. Now I get a chance to run live readings to my radio head and see what is going on. Hopefully the fuel trims are within spec and that there are no hard codes being set. I'mm know in a few hours when I get back.

Whitey....those new tires on my Mustang made all the difference in the world. No more highway rut running. It felt so goo at 85 last night. It felt like maybe 60, where the 225's on my rims are like a squirrel chasing a nut. Wherever the nut goes so did those tires. LOL Now it's a perfect set up. Even the shift points are more in line with when I ran my 235/50/18's. I forgot to set he tuner to the 225 tires, but with these 245's, it's smoother and more refined.

Well that was a fun trip. Just put 125 miles on Red and he performed great. I think I still have that one plug/coil breaking down a bit, but it is real intermittent.

What I did find today, was something I didn't know I had. I bought a set of wheel for my buddy's 5x5.5 OBS f150. When we went to put them on, they were too small. Hmm. We measured it and sure as hell, they were 5x5.3 Centerline with the multiholes and rivets all around Talk about old school, but they are spotless. I'm just not too thrilled to go back to 16's after putting new 17's on both trucks. These are what they look like. Weird. I didn't realize I had these.

LOL... yeah, I have the money to get the motor, I just don't want to be splurging on things I want instead of need while in this rut. We'll get out of it somehow. My Buddy out of the blue called me tonight and said he'd like me to do the general repairs for his trans shop. He's just out of the "can't open a new business yet" deal he made with the attorneys. So, we're making a go of it again - effective now. Think I already have him an E4OD, THD350, and a 4L80E lined up. He asked me if we could advertise 3V timing chains, and have me do them..... not too sure about that yet, LOL.

Speaking of ruts, I'm glad those tires are doing their job in not following road ruts. I'm going from a 225/50ZR16 to a 225/45ZR17. The outer dimensions are really close. I might end up lowering it 3/4" to 1". Not really hip on the idea until I see it level.

That it can. She's pretty down in the dumps about it. I see opportunities here.... just hope I can help her see them too.

At some point, I'd like to be in business for myself. I like fixing things.... don't care if it's a car, piece of electronics, computer, whatever...

The other thing my Buddy asked me to do (again) is A/C systems for him. So, I might have a go at some of this mechanic deal - on the side for now. I really should have stuck to my original desire as a youngster, and went to the Ford ASSET program. Probably too old for that now.

When one door closes, another opens- Good quality, reasonable priced, independant auto repair around here is a commodity. If you are licenesed to handle freon, you can write your own paycheck ( especially in the summer)- Dad still keeps his current, and hes been retired 20+ yrs.
After having one, and seeing the traffic on here,i think an ambitious, young feller could have a 10 gen specific parts/ salvage/ repair shop on his spare time and make a little money to boot. But you would have to hustle!

I'm liking the way you are thinking there Bear. If a guy was an opportunist and had a place to store things, I could see a road trip south and a lot of stuff coming back in the big trailer. Catalog it like Hollander, so that anyone, anywhere could find the part, and you might have a growing business, As long as there are GEN 10 owners that care about their rides, the business would prosper. You might have do the same with the BowTies, but if you can find the right niche, you have a business. I can surely see it working, especially in the lower 48 where you can UPS ground cheap enough. We don't have that luxury. We have to pay 2nd rates for ground. Ridiculous, considering we are both a UPS and FedEX hub port.

Agreed, if a feller was good at setting up a computer inventory, or had a good employee that could handle the web site, cataloging, internet sales, etc., and free you up to scout out trucks.-and strip them down.-( after the hurricane, there were mulitple 10gens in Texas that would have been great salvage trucks).
Just think, if business was good, that same truck could deliver parts to a satellite location in Alaska or Canada.
