After it happened on the first surgery, I told the anesthetist that it happened before, so he was prepared.

.......... oh and I did the colonoscopy and endoscopy the 2nd time because they found polyps (benign) and had me come back in 3 years later.

I'll just say this... the first time was under the old healthcare system, and was 170 dollars. The second one was under this new BS, and cost me 3,200 dollars. Ridiculous, eh?
Holy Craps! pardon the pun. Hope I can avoid those medical expenses.

I screwed my lower lumber up once and it was painful, that pain that shoots down your leg on occasion. Finally cured through exercise, - strengthening the lower back muscles. I wouldn't of done that if it didn't bother me so dang bad, but it worked. I even sat up straight for quite awhile after...it was automatic after the exercises lol. You can't do squat with a bad back.

I'm very lucky, very fortunate that cancer or of that nature runs in the family. I smoked once, so I might feel that later in life. Other than that yea, very lucky. My father died at 49 from mercury poisoning....Avid fisherman, bad fish, that was terrible. But nothing hereditary thank God.

Mother had her knee done as well, but she was a mail carrier, then a nurse. On her feet a lot, they just wore out

Must of picked that up from the Texan's when the pipeline was being built. Famous Alaskan saying from the mid-70's. "Happiness is a Texan going home, with an Okie under each arm". They were some rowdy SOB's in pipeline building days.

Funniest thing I remember from then was when Steve McQueen and James Arness came up for a fishing (?) trip. Some kind of relaxing deal anyways. They got drunk, had a rented Olds Tornado, and decided to start spinning brodies in the middle of 4th ave (main at the time). Then he (McQueen) drag raced up and down the street, before being arrested for DWI. There is a mug shot of McQueen in the AK Archives.
Oh thats a hoot!- ive noticed as i get older my on board censor dont work as well as it used to!!
I'll pop off something humorous and the mrs. will shoot me a look and a BILL!-
Neat story on Steve Mcqueen- i had never heard that one!

Did you notice the scar on McQueens nose? He got that from the cop he said could never arrest him. Him and Arness got the hell out of Anchorage the next day. He forfeited his bail on the Reckless Driving charges. I don't know what happened to the DWI charges, let alone resisting arrest. Fame has privileges.

Born in Anchorage. Rode out the 64 earthquake across the street from the theatre (Denali) that sunk to the marquee when it hit. I got the privilege of watching telephone poles almost touch the ground from their movement. Yeah, I've been here a while. lol I lived 5 blocks from where the theatre went down. Our place has a couple broken windows and lots of broken dishes. Otherwise, it wasn't bad for us personally. The house is still standing and occupied to this day. My grandfather knew how to build a strong safe house. We built one in Wasilla also, where I finished growing up. This is the lake house where the garage is.

I lived in Washington state twice, but my wife didn't like it, so we returned. I've been to every state this side of the Mississippi River, with the exception of Hawaii. I've been from Ontario Canada and every province west. I've been around, just prefer Alaska and our clean air/water/etc.

The first pic is the theatre after the quake. See the marquee at the street level. The second is a before earthquake photo. I was kitty corner across the street at the Standard station buying some vending machine popcorn. It was cheaper than the threatre. lol It was a Good Friday matinee. Glad I was late.

That is so neat- ive seen the pictures taken after the quake., im kind of a history nut anyway- now im talking with a man who was there! Wow!
Then, you must have travelled by car/truck mostly?- no matter what, thats a lot of miles!
There is some beautiful places down here, especially out west, but, as you say, judging by your pics, its gorgeous up there!
Uncle Mac was stationed at a base up there in the late 50's- he repaired radar units- i have no idea where at though.

If he repaired radar, he'd of been at Elmendorf, Eillsen (sic), or Clear most likely. There was supposedly a setup at Dillingham/Bethel/ or King Salmon, but I never ventured out there or gave it much thought. We had White-Alice communication towers for relaying information. We also had several Nike missile sites around Anchorage. We are the first line of air defense for the US. We have F18's, Raptors, AWAIC's, some tucked away bombers, etc. Yeah, we'll be bombed before anyone else. We are a big target with all of our Army/Air Force spread through out the state. We'd be the new Pearl Harbor.
