I was sure yesterday, but now that you bring it up, it does have the 9.75 locker in it. My mind got stuck on the 8.8 and didn't even consider what was there. When I crawled under it (not an easy chore since I've grown up, lol) I looked it over and tried to turn it, but didn't even notice the pear sideways cover. DUH! Been a strange week. At least I got the seats and now I'm going to have to re-evaluated what I need for the rear. H9 at least I spotted the 355's, so that was something to my favor. Thanks for waking me up White. lol

Too bad you don't don't have a spare housing laying around. It really doesn't matter if it's a 8.8 or 9.75. The drive shaft will be a little short on the 8.8 but it will hold up just fine to towing with a stock 5.4.

Yea , that 8.8 post lol. That threw me off when you (AK) mentioned it. Didn't sound original to me.

Well, its why I didn't think that 5four was its first engine. 8.8's were never used behind the 5.4's. Only in front of if 4x4. Not that I know of anyway. Usually they get the 9.75 traction lock (LS) (3.55)...H9. Not quite a full locker like say a Eaton Detriot Locker (trutrac) but they do a good job. Upon accelerating, the clutches lock up and give you full two wheel drive in the rear for a time. Until you ease up on her. They work well when the work correctly lol. If your stuck, good luck keeping them both turning like a truetrac (detroit). I had detroits in my second build cornering on asphalt was cool...chirp chirp chirp chirp lol

Anyway, I know what your probably doing today lol.

339,190.9 mls. 200 more and it's time for some new blend. Hell, it's only been 8 months lol. Meijer has the good stuff on sale 15.99 5 quart jug of MC. Quart bottles aren't on sale dangit. I'll have to pay full price for a quart I guess.

I didn't fathom just how huge the difference was in the salt we use in the winter here MI vs AK. Looking at the pictures you've taken of that 98. That thing is clean in all the right places. It's most likley original! Did you mention miles yet? Still a great price being that clean.

At first I was sure you were describing something else, and you got it 15.99 at quart. Even up here, that would be closer to 250-280 per.. lol

JP--it sure is. Here I've got a 8.8 complete rear end for my Mustang and haven't even installed it yet, and here I go getting another freaking project. I'm getting too old for this XXXT. lol

RCairBear. enjoy the time off and get a nice even tan. Make the wife give up the tan lines also. lol.

Lastly. I almost backed out this morning, but when he called and said he had a way to haul it to ME, then I agreed. That saved me at least the money for a UHaul or borrowing one, or even having it put up on a slideback for 250. He even offered to lower the price 200 more, but I told him if he got it to me, I'd honor the $1100 we agreed to. That made him a bit more excited. lol I'm not out to hurt him, but I like his idea much better.

Huh, couldn't make out what yuh said there buddy. (?) What I meant, their 5 quart jug of Motorcraft Blend 5/20 was on sale for $15.99. That's for 5 quarts, couldn't pass that up.

Sounds like he really wanted to get rid of it. Worked out well, but yea that was a little strange....hauling it to you and lowering the price lol. Yea, he must of wanted you to have it lol.

Good deal!

I concur. Good on you AK. I think this project is worthy of the new rear end.
