Well, at least wiper blades and cowls last longer in MI. And I have you'all beat on engines....so far. Pound on wood...

So my wife went with a friend to OK, her friend started to bring her back Sunday night and stopped to put gas in the car in Emporia KS. Car started then died and wouldn't restart. Queue me driving to get them, then last night getting a uhaul car dolly and towing the car back...............Normally I get 15.3 mpg. Averaged out 14.5 mpg after towing the car 111 miles.

Kinda shocked honestly, I'm not sure what I was getting while towing the car back but it didn't really make that much of a difference. Granted I was going 60mph (100km/h) and that's just because the truck didn't want to drive less than that.

Damn, pulling a car, well I wouldn't use a dolly, but trailering I got about 9/10. I can see how a dolly would help mpgs...if you can stomach using one lol. But yea, the UHaul vehicle trailer by itself is 1900 lbs. Most likley a huge diff from a dolly.

I would probably have preferred the trailer but couldn't afford it. Was afraid my gas mileage would tank. In retrospect next time would do the trailer but the dolly wasn't bad. Just had to check the straps every 50 miles or so and even then no problems. It only got squirrely with me if I tried going over 65 or below 55 on the interstate. Biggest problem we had was getting the car on and back off the dolly.

I've managed to find the sweet spot to get relatively decent gas mileage out of the old beast. Granted still have some work to do but if I keep it at 65 most of the time and try to avoid rush hour I can do 15+ pretty regularly.

Taking side streets to work drops it to 13.5 so.............

Looks like the timing chain on the friends car broke.
