Yea, I'm going to be CarFaxing 6.7's for awhile lol. But it's looking like - better get rid of it at 100, 000 miles...before it stabs you in the back deeply lol.
Right now everyone should be carfaxing EVERYTHING. After New Orleans got hit by Katrina, there were lots of flood vehicles being sold without any changes to the title, etc. I remember reading an article on it, and people were discovering all kinds of oddities in their vehicles as a result.
I'm sure this hurricane season will produce the same results.

Very true. Scammers eyes light right up. All the money they can potentially make screwing people over.
Well hell, guess I'm going to have to purchase a different truck and learn every damn little thing about it.... AGAIN. I was hoping all I had to do is general maintenance. I guess it's a little fun. At least the information is out there, - should be able to somewhat see a problem coming and do something about it before hand. Not a terrible investment IF you know what to expect.
Dug into the CD4E tonight..... and uh, yeah.... this bushing was SHOT. I think I am going to need to replace the CV shaft.... it's scored too. I dunno, I'm kind of tired of fixing leaks on this damn thing. It might be about time for me to the raise the white flag.
Whitey.....that doesn't look too good. That's the Escape transmission case right? What caused that wear? Was that where the CV axle rides?
Brew.....there are so many good trucks (Ford of course) on AutoTrader, that I got tired of looking. I even narrowed it down and was still at over 40 trucks that had what I want in a 2013 or 2014. I might be taking a trip to see my daughter in Alabama, and if I do, I'm going to pick up a GEN 12 with 5.0, 4x4 and regular cab. I want black or dark blue. I'm going to be picky with this purchase. It will probably be my last big buy. I'm getting ancient. LOL

Yeah, it's the CD4E. I "think" the reason it wore like that because..... it looks to me like it was installed backwards. The brass channel that you see on the bottom is how it is supposed to lube. There is no way for any trans fluid to lubricate the bushing, as it is facing the outside of the trans. I don't know how it was put in backwards.... I know my Buddy was training a guy how to build when he built this for me, and I'm sure that the trainee would have done this.... not my Buddy.
On a side note, this bushing DOES NOT want to come out. I used a 3/8" cold chisel to split it, and it does not want to leave the premises... lol. I decided to call it a night and revisit it tonight when I get home. I need to find my Lisle seal puller and see if I can get a bite on it..... I haven't seen it since I moved. Finally got out my OTC slide hammer set, and it was too big. So are my axle bearing pullers. Also tried to incorporate a small set of 3 jaw pullers, but that is too big as well.
If any of you have any tricks, I'm all ears, lol. I have the bag of new bushings in the freezer right now for installation. For install... I do have tricks. Just not getting this out. I'm guessing it has Loctite retaining compound holding it in there.

For what your looking at yes. I'm looking at 1 tons AK...everywhere in the US except Alaska lol. Happy to say there are more 1 tons this year vs last. Folks are just dumping the 6.7L's so I can get one cheap. A 12 or 13 anyway. Ford somewhat fixed them for 2015, that's where they double in price....used anyway.
The 6seven is just one option IF I can fix them. I can with another 5 grand on top of purchase. But Like I said before, you can get a 12 or 13 6.7 cheaper than clean GEN 9/10 (96 plus) with a Cat or International.
I'd hate to go with a Dodge or Cheby....among MANY other things, they are just ugly as sin.
Got the bushing out with a combination of a seal puller and this homemade tool that me and a guy made today at work. This steel is hard as hell, and can take a serious lickin'.
It's back together to this point now. I couldn't, in good mind, throw the old CV axle back in there. It's scored enough that I can see a groove in it by eye. So, living out in the sticks like I do now..... I had to order the CV axle at AZ. Think I'll be coming up with something different before long, because I have had really poor luck with the DLG CV axles losing boots.
It's supposed to snow here tonight..... [sarcasm]GOODY![/sarcasm]. And it is raining like crazy right now. I am SOOOO happy that I have a garage to do this stuff in now. I haven't even lit the pilot light in the heater, and the garage still stays pretty warm in comparison to outside.
