Thank you sir but it looks like we are going to be fine over here. Mandingo is down in Florida and said the eye passed over him about 11.30 last night with 100 mile sustained winds around it.

I am mostly worried about heating my house in a bad situation. I am thinking about changing my natural gas fireplace insert for a ventless 99.9% efficient unit that can run with our without a fan. Right now mine is vented.... and it is a 17 year old unit.

I guess I could just use my generator to run my furnace though.... and a few lights. It's a 110 V 3500W continuous, so roughly 30 amps. Probably ought to clean the carb, etc. on it, LOL.

Yea, but the ideal thing to do is get a natural gas generator that fires on DC. That way you don't have runins with those Walmert woman pulling guns on yuh at the pumps...when your attempting to stock up on fuel during a natural disaster.

NG is the last to go (unless it's an earthquake disaster). So it makes sense transferring to a gen that runs on that stuff. If there's a long run of power loss, NG will keep the lights on the longest...as well as heat.

Sure glad there wasn't as much surge as there could of been. I quit watching last night around 10pm. At that time they were thinking there might not be, but didn't seen all that confident about it. Or how fast all that ocean would rush back in. The faster it comes the more chances of mini tsunami. I saw where Miami was about 3' under, but just low enough that it didn't rush into homes, hotels and whatnot...from what I could tell. My family was okay, everyone so far. I learned this morning I have cousins and Aunt down in Florida that I plumb forgot about...terrible I know, but they were alright as well.

Glad to see you were alright Jp. Sounds like Mandingo (I know who that is) got a piece of that inner eye wall cloud. Glad he was okay.

And yea, the more lines that are buried the better.

Just got another call from a company wanting me to come work for them. This is the 4th time in the last 5 or 6 months - and the 2nd in 2 weeks. Starting to get more intrigued. I've never talked money with them, but these guys asked me to come in.... I gave them a "yeah that sounds good, I might drop by". They were very excited that I have 22.5 years experience.
