Chad has a much more "calculated" approach. He does it all himself, including body and paint. His shop is truly a "one stop" shop... he'll do anything.
If I was having a motor done, I would seriously consider taking it to Dave's Auto Center/Monster Engines. Not to pile the stuff on you, but Dave's channel is awesome too,
For a 4R70W/4L60, we build them for 1495 as a bench job (they pull it, we build it), and labor kind of varies on the vehicle.
The 5R55's, we do for 1795
Like a C4/TH350, we do for 900.
All of those prices include a shift correction kit. And of course, we'll do custom stuff as well. We do the updates as well. Such as the 4R70W has a snap ring upgrade we do on the direct drive drum. They like to come off when they get older, so we do the spiral ring upgrade. They look like the pic below.... but there is also a "keeper" that we put on this as well. They'll stay put with this upgrade....

After arriving and unloading the truck at the show. They made everyone with their prize possessions sit out in the rain with them...wouldn't let them in after instruction them to line up. That place is huge they all fit inside. Most of those vehicles were trailered in enclosed trailers. The made them sit in line out in the elements.
The folks from the show inspecting the vehicles broke the key off in the ignition of the Chads 72 right off. They had to find a place to make another real quick.

Dang..thought a full rebuild would be much more than that. That's cheap!

If I remember right 2 - 2500 use to be the old prices at the shops....very old.
There's a place here locally called Tanner. We did a 4R75 for a guy, and we charged him 1500. He showed us his receipt from the failed Tanner transmission (14 months old) and he paid 4 grand to them.
He gave us a 200 dollar tip (100 each) - that was kinda cool.
This made me feel a little... not-so-observant , which is unlike me. On my way home a month or so ago, I noticed an Industrial Injection sign on a building I pass every day going to/from work. I was wondering how the hell I'd not noticed the sign before. I was just on Google Maps, and I figured out why. The trees have no leaves now, so I can actually see it.
It's back in there somewhere, LOL.
The latest Fab Rats episode is what made me think about that.... Dustin is in this episode.
Not sure how to figure out what to charge there....well, not without knowing what everybody else does lol. That's kind of like cheating though..isn't it?
I don't think Tech rate always works due to overhead.... Overhead varies from place to place.
Seems like a fully rebuilt trans should be between 35-60% of a new one. That's a fairly wide margin.
New units aren't always available..so there's that.
Reputation and word of mouth is everything I expect.
