The kid would probably have to make some serious life line changes.....more Dr Phil, less Jerry Springer...

Brakes smelled hot after a few downhill stops. This is from 5m after parking.

Thanks for posting that CO!

On that kid... I can tell you that I, for one, won't be attempting to help him out. That "you must be college graduates" thing always pisses me off. I love it when people at tell me the "college graduates" are to blame when they're mad at changes.... meanwhile, they're 8!TC4ing to a college graduate.

Yeah. I haven't heard that since I lived back home, on the East Coast. Envy is such an ugly shade of green, but then I guess it's what makes the world go 'round in 2023.

I run into an unusual problem on my GF's Taurus. When we bought it, they did an oil change, etc. I did notice that on start-up it always clicked for 2 seconds before the oil stabilized. Being a 3.5, it seemed odd, but my neighbor EB does the same thing, as does the Edge.

Anyways, after some thought, I popped under it and found a Microgard oil filter on it (Purolator/Mann makes these). I went down to OR and bought a Motorcraft filter. Problem solved. It seems that the Microgard anti-drain valve does leak the pressure off. Cold start Sat morning, perfect Ford startup. Immediate oil pressure. The Edge got one too. No more tick on start up with it either. It also had a Microgard on it. Going to have to tell the neighbor to get rid of that Pennzoil filter (Jifffy Lube) and see if the MC cures the EB start-up click too.

This is one reason I buy Motorcraft or Wix oil filters for a Ford. Good quality anti-drain back valves with silicone pad. Cold weather doesn't like rubber d/b valves.

Howdy, AK! I've read all over about using MC filters on our trucks, but never thought about it applying to other Ford models. I've bought MC's for all my Fords over the years, though. It just seemed like the right thing to do.

The Microgards are made by Wix now. I was told that by an O'Reilly employee, so I opened them both up in the store to see. The Microgard has a rubber drain back, and a different relief valve, but it was pretty obvious Wix made it.

Man... I've been thinking a lot lately. Things have gotten way out of hand here with real estate. I could sell my house, and with the equity buy a house outright in another state - so I've been looking. I can get a lot more for my money elsewhere.

What states are the cheapest to live in? I've looked in WY and MN mainly.

Mostly tossing the idea around in my own head for now, but I can feel the idea gaining traction.

Ohio has one of the lowest cost-of-living indexes on the country. I've been considering a move back there since my parents are getting up in age and to be closer to my sister and kids. I can buy a *lot* of house back there for what mine is worth. (Even with my recent refi and payout, I could pay this off and have enough for a huge down payment if not to buy something outright.) I'm just having a hard time thinking about giving up CO.

I need to replace the battery in my Grizzly. Check out the date code:

Another Yuasa is about $100-$110 where alt brands are about $65, but since this one lasted 16 years (!) think I'll drop the extra coin. I just hope they make 'em like they used to.

They make this YTX20L and a YTX20HL. 270 CCA vs. 310 CCA is the only difference. I don't need more CCA, I'm more interested in longevity, and I wonder if the "L" would offer that. Any ideas, Thinkers?
