Me too. I have everything to fix it... and my Wife has asked me 4 or 5 times if we can go out and fix it (she wants to help). I just don't have the strength in my shoulder. My torn rotator cuff is giving me a lot of grief tonight.
I read that before your diff goes totally out , it begins to consume more oil, vibrations when accelerating and decelerating, noises, and there are leaks of diff oil etc...

Should of spun it, - at least 180. Painting it after cleaning would of been best. Once more pics were added, you can see the ring wear to the inside, looks like it's flaking as well in one spot....unless that's just residue.
You have a lot of gear damage. The spider gear on the bottom of this picture is broken. Guess where your metal came from? I think we found it right there.
You need a rebuild or replacement axle assy. You don't show your truck's year or the axle ID tag you took off. If you rebuild you will need at the minimum. R&P, side/spider gear kit (ford basic 4215), bearing and seal and crush sleeve. Be prepared to have to replace the carrier as it's probably damaged where the spider gears ride.
Do you have any pics of the axle shafts to post where the bearing ride? That might help you decide what is your best course of action might be.
I heard horror stories that if your breather hole is not working on a 10th gen F150 and it's prone to plugging up with dirt, mud, dust etc...
the axle can burst, break because it's not breathing properly.
Anyone else here this?
They don't require much maintenance. It's more important to make sure you have one (they can rot and fall off or split). These gen 10's have a right angle breather cap at the end of the hose on the rear diff. It helps prevent plugging. I haven't had plugging problems with this gen, but have replaced rotted hoses once.
Not really a horror story, you'll blow a seal eventually if plugged.

New oil is better than the old stuff at this point. It'll help some. It could go at any time imo.
It will most likley leave you stranded if you're a 2WD. As mentioned, your not posting truck details. A 4WD, in most cases will get the back home if you're prepared. Carry a 10mm wrench with you. 8 times out of 10 the rear end will roll with the shaft removed after it's blown. Remove the rear drive shaft because it will most likley bind under pressure. Once removed, use the 4x4 to get you back home. The rear end will most likley coast fine. I've done this plenty in the past as kid and with my thrashers lol.
