Have you been to a decent shop to see labor rates lately?
$115 + Tax/Hour !!!

Dealership charges $180 to just clear a check engine light.
Dude..If you see the over head a dealer has you very quickly will understand why labor rates are what they are. Ours is in the $180/hr range as well

Not my pic, BTW. The Google machine found it for me.

Speaking of caulk, is a caulk gun what you use to apply the stuff in your link?
Ahh, I see. Yep, caulk gun tube. Wish it came with a washered screw cap and a few extra tips. Like 3M provides with their pricey caulk. Hate cleaning out the tips when finished.....I get that crap everywhere then lol.

What about that stuff ? Is it pressurized or does it require a gun ?

so @GRF150 this is a somewhat standard overhead for dealership service centers

wages
utilities
tools(those are not cheap)
specialized shop equipment(we just had to drop about 15 grand on 3 new battery chargers/testers)
diag software(Ford FDRS/IDS is i think around 80/ per month PER license and most places have at least 3 or 4

Maybe going into the job, but if some problem arises and you can't fix it. Stress goes thru the roof... fast!

Take that broken petcock radiator plastic drain plug last week for example. It's not leaking, took it into mechanic and he said don't touch it, leave as be it won't leak...
IF he tries to remove the broken plug from the rad it might ruin the threads etc and the repair will be bigger....

Let's hope he's right and this thing doesn't start leaking!
its all about how you handle it, if something goes sideways, let out some colorful language and walk away for 5-10 mins. come back with a cool head and devise a plan to render said problem
