We did twice-smoked ham, too.
Tonight it's beef with a side of more beef - it was a loooong Lent.

Save the huge magnet for where it can lain flat, inside the tranny pan. The stock setup has a magnetic fill plug, as someone stated. I added a drain, and bought a 15-25$ magnetic fill plug that I found $2.99, somewhere. Took some searching.

I feel the fill plug magnet sits above the fluid level, and only gets 'thrown' fluid. I wanted a 2nd one, and, I wanted a drain. You gotta be cautious in locating my add-on type. A weld on thread is far nicer. Being smaller, (not needing a 1" dia flat area, (and not being/having internal parts,) locating it can be lower, and drain more fluid. With any drain, however, you can drain some to look at, and you can check your magnet.

I tend to have disliked new RTVs for gasketting, but they have improved. I used NAPA's grey, probably a Permatex. Flawless. FOLLOW directions. It requires care in application, and a pause to firm up, pretightening.

My Explorer was a 4.0 OHV and had the M5OD. That was so fun to drive!

I haven't tried that stuff yet... I will someday. The black RTV and The Right Stuff is always handy when I need it, LOL. So it gets used. I've never had it leak.

The PO of Frankie used orange RTV, and that DID leak. If there was a wrong thing to use, that guy used it in every situation. (See my stereo wiring series of videos on YT)

This may be handy to some of you. This website will allow yo to upload files for them to deep scan for FREE by 57 different products. I sat in a seminar last week, and I believe they said this is backed by Google. I ran a file that I knew would get flagged, and this is what I got: It will also allow you to upload a URL and see if it finds malicious software.

I've never had black leak as well. It's all good stuff. This stuff is grey in color. So far I used it for everything on the front diff upon reassembly. Remember when I busted the housing and bent the axle ? Think that was 4 years ago. That's held up. I think the only difference is it's hot....cures quickly.

Wish I could get more shelf life out of all that stuff...once opened.. Double freezer bagging helped, still, not enough. I've had a old tube of black that sat on the shelf for 8 years or so...never opened. Finally gave a shot one day and it was perfectly fine, nothing wrong with it. Once it's opened though...count down begins.

My Buddy that builds Transmissions brought me over two of these. It does not dry out anywhere but the tip. I just put a grabber screw in the dried stuff, and pull it out. She's mint after that.

He told me I wouldn't want to use anything else after. I still have both bottles, and I'm eyeing more! It's supposedly great for the China walls on a SBF too.
