Wound up with a plasma cutter for Christmas. It's an Amazon box, but I did a lot of research on it beforehand... reading and watching. For the price, and how often it'll get used, it seems like a no brainer. I've watched too many VGG, MORR, and Fab Rats episodes... and I've wanted some "lightning scissors" for a while now.
Looks like I need to do some more wiring in garage now. I ran 220 out there already - but I need to add a couple 110 circuits out there as well.
EDIT: The new version actually comes with a 220V plug on it, and also comes with a 110V adapter.
When are going to play ? Curious how it does. Great addition to the arsenal white! I've gotten away with air snips over the years. Unfortunately they are only good to 16 gauge and they bend the metal bit, specially in a radius. . Looks like a nice little machine white. I've looked at those in the past. Well, back then they weren't as affordable and couldn't warrant one at the time. I wouldn't use it enough...not much of an excuse I know, but passed anyway. Hypertherm and Eastmen were the only options back then from what recall....yea pricey. You have many more options today vs 10 years ago with plasma machines, - which inevitably brought the price down quite a bit. Next Christmas maybe lol.
Ohio, did you get more snow? Showed the misses your handy work, she thought those trees would look really cool with a foot or so of fresh stuff under them . I agree.. Well, already cool, how about exceptionally cool lol.
Hope you guys had a good one, Duncan as well.
Only an inch or two Friday afternoon, and it's now mostly gone, again. They do look much better with some snow on the ground. At this point, I don't care if it's rain or snow, we just need some moisture. Not much in the forecast for the next 60 days, either.
Brew, I'll need to make an extension for 220V to use it. Also... Just remembered that I used a 4 prong in the garage, and this plasma cutter is a 3 prong. Need to convert it, somehow. I like having ground involved, LOL. I feel safer.
Ohio... it rained here for 2 days, then got really windy again last night. It's sleeting right now.

Right, that way neutral is neutral and ground is dedicated. As long as your fuse box has both bars. As in one bar is just for green, green only...dedicated. Should be 10 gauge copper as well....for 30amps/240 anyway.
If that's the case, you could use and adapter or a dog bone to connect up with it. Dog bone would be choice as they're 90* and hug the wall. You can purchase one that has an added 120 leg adapter. This will keep that receptical usable when you don't need it for 240, 220 or whatnot. There are many configurations to choose from.
Also, I'm not sure what code is there, here, you need a dedicated earth ground isolated from the house for the garage. For that, 2 8' sticks of 1/2" or 5/8 copper rod should be driven into the ground in succession. Yea, they're fairly strict out here lol.
I don't know what code was for 1998... LOL. But no, it's very rare to have an isolated ground for a garage that is attached to the home. So I don't have that.
Been pissing around with this animal today.... it's definitely different than 10. Lots of words in menus have been replaced with icons. Not exactly a fan of that.
I have 220 out there. It's on the back wall, under my bench. My intention right there was for a compressor some day, but the way battery powered tools are coming along, a compressor might just be used to air up tires and plasma.
