Yeah Brew, I was eyeing those and one of the new HF guns too. Seen a lot of guys on YT with the purple HF gun with great results. I mostly wanted to practice and figure out what to do next year for painting the whole car. Today taught me what I don't want to do. I dug into the panel between the door and rear tire today. Then the neighbor came over, and I lost two hours. Got to this point....
Well... that picture above was a screenshot of a video. Looks blurry. Here's a better pic. I just slowly cut pieces out until I had it where I needed it. The seatbelt retractor button will need me to somehow make a patch panel to weld in from behind. I was about to drill out the spot weld that hold the panel to the rocker... and my neighbor came over. So, I'll **** with it throughout the week. BTW.... more Bondo above the belt line. I'm excited about that.
EDIT: Well I'll be dipped.... a guy on Instagram sent me a message that LMR carries this panel. Maybe my neighbor saved me by not drilling out those spot welds. I really need the wheel well lip right there too, and this piece has it.
Colorado in the fall is perfect. I couldn't imaging how bad it is when all the tourists are out in force though.
It took me ten minutes to go one mile on 24 this afternoon, so, yeah.
The traffic has at least quadrupled in the eight years we've been here, and they keep building.

We have the same issues here. I can't really b!tc4 too much, because I moved over here 4 years ago. Where I live really has one little 10 mile section serving 61,000 people (based off of 2019 census, and I know it's closer to 100,000 now). plus the through traffic headed to NV, CA, etc. If there is an accident here, it's literally a camp site. I've sat there for hours before, meeting a lot of new people on the city and town FB groups, LOL. This is our little 10 mile stretch that I speak of. There are two other ways to get home, but one is a one lane (literally one car at a time) unpaved/rocky road over the top of a mountain, and the other is about a 30 mile "out of your way" road that people just don't take unless they know I-80 is at a stand still.
Yet, we just keep building over here on this side of the mountain. But I am a lifer in UT, so I feel like I can wherever the hell I want though, LOL.

Is it tall enough white ? What are the 3 holes for on top (on the car)....must be for the molding ehh. Having a molding there is great, you can hide seam imperfections if you have any.
Also, - your really going to have to watch your heat there, it's going to want warp for sure. It's easier to watch your heat when welding vs grinding. Grinding can screw yuh big time. If you have to do some grinding, knock down as much as you can with a coarse stone wheel first. That'll keep the temps down vs a flap disc, if plan on using one. Be careful not to thin the metal out in spots as well. Do as little grinding as you can, that stuff will warp quicker than shiii. What's bad about that, that warping can creep up the body on yuh...no fun having to deal with that. In fact, that's the worst lol....seriously.
According to the photo on LMR, it should be pretty close to exactly how I've cut it. The three holes were where the rivets were for the bracket that holds the GT ground effects. See pic...
I'm just going to have to slowly tack that thing in there. I just ordered a couple pieces of copper too so I can make some tools for backing it. I also think I can make some pretty effective pieces out of some pipe I've got laying around.

I originally purchased this Flowmaster HP2 to go on my truck back when it was my DD. Doesn't make a bunch of sense to put it on there anymore. I think I might buy another on and put them on Frankie with a couple turn downs. That will make me need a new rear bumper, however. The PO cut it to put exhaust tips through it (I hate that).
Yea, smashing copper pipe together in a vice or whatnot does the job. Using copper as a backer also closes/seals the weld against the backer, much less pitting. That pitting can screw a nice looking job up in just a few years due the carbon residue welding leaves behind... very difficult to remove pit carbon without spot blasting the weld with fines. You can also flush pits and small voids using compressed air and chemical (acetone) at the same time, - right before you skim coat w/filler. You skim coat right after cleaning, - otherwise pits and voids will flash/ rust up quickly....overnight for sure.
There's a lot of little details to this crap to keep in mind....so all that work will last awhile lol
