Dang, haven't heard squat about that. Post that in GD white, that's sure to get some attention.

Sounds legit for sure. Don't know if it's a push rod engine yet.... most likley expect. Seems kind of strange with Godzilla already being produced... well, I don't know, not really.

Hmmmm... A 6.8 swap AND the Vortech for the Mustang.

Ford has a site called FordTrends and they kind of explained this in September IIRC. All I really remember from it was they were going to do away with the Coyote for the 4.8 but nixed that idea.

Found this on Ford Trend:"Thing is, that V8 hasn’t been such a best-seller as of late. The very same problem impacts the Mustang GT. For that reason, 2021 Ford F150 New Engine was reportedly thinking about dropping this V8 in the F-150 and, eventually, changing it with a new and much more fuel-efficient 4.8-liter V8 adhering to a $447 million financial investment to its engine plant in Windsor, Ontario. Again, this was all a rumor as well as nothing official was revealed.

Today, nevertheless, Ford Authority has actually found out that only component of this report holds true. Allegedly. Right here’s what we know: the F-150 will not be getting that brand-new 4.8-liter V8 but will, as a matter of fact, maintain the 5.0 V8 instead. However what about that massive plant investment?

It’s still happening, however, the cash won’t be used for retooling the center for that engine, but rather to update the existing 5.0 Coyote with fuel shot. There will certainly be some retooling necessary, but this is intended for the new 7.3-liter Godzilla V8 for the brand-new F-Series Super Task. So, for those that love the Prairie wolf V8, well, you’re in good luck. It’s not going anywhere and also only getting better with enhanced efficiency. We’ve reached out to Ford seeking additional comment."

Just guessing but the 6.8 might just be a smaller bore and\or stroke of the Godzilla. The modular couldn't get much bigger and still fit in a Mustang and the top end of the Godzilla is much smaller.

It only makes sense for it to be an OHV motor. Don't get me wrong, the modular motors have been great.... But I think Ford (since 1992) has sat back and watched GM produce the LS and Fiat produce the Hemi's, obviously both OHV motors. They are able to compete on a more affordable level... less moving parts, etc.

Should this be what we're all expecting, based off of the Godzilla, then this is HUGE for Ford fans. If these make their way into Expeditions as well (more likely to be in a wrecking yard), in a few years, you can say goodbye to LS swap Mustangs, IMO. You just don't see a lot of modular swaps because of the price and the size to the motor. This gives a motor for the aftermarket to embrace too... one cam to swap, easier to time, etc. If Ford uses anything close to the Godzilla cylinder heads.... wow!

I forgot to ask what the "GD" thing is... I don't think I'm familiar with it.

White, came across an engine building site that said the Godzilla is 2 inches wider than a 351W small block and 4.5 inches narrower than a Coyote.
