Wow, this is out of no where. Recently, before Christmas I caught an interview with Geddy on Canadian TV (we get Windsor TV here) from an event in Toronto and he gave no hints of the cancer. Mercury and Bowie didn't let on until the day before also I think it was but nothing here. You're right on about one of the greats. He was a machine on the kit but he lyrics are something else. He was an avid reader and extremely insightful. Did see Geddy again on the Big Interview with Dan Rather a while back and IIRC he did say then that Rush was probably done touring. This explains that.

I did not realize he had brain cancer. I heard speculations that he was not able to play anymore, but never heard details. There was a rumor going around recently that Mike Portnoy was going to play drums for RUSH on a tour, but Mike shut that down pretty quick and said that he never stated that.

Anyway, that now becomes a REALLY intriguing thing now. If there is anyone that can play for Peart, it is definitely Mike Portnoy.

I thought you guys might get a kick out of this video that popped up in my Youtube "related videos". Warning, language on Day 3, LOL.

More to the story above. I am actually going to see Mike Portnoy on January 28th. I've got a 10 spot saying they do a RUSH tribute.

@jprevat

Jp, I tried to PM you but somethings up with it. The pop up I get when trying to upload a picture only allows URL links and once I select anything across the tool bar at the top, that button is selected and everything greys out and the only way to fix it is by leaving the page and starting over? I don't know what's up but I'm assuming MS, HP, Intel or someone else has given me another update I couldn't give two flips about. MS mostly is good for changing my settings too. I obviously didn't set my computer up the way I want it so they go ahead and change my settings to what they know I really want. It pisses me off when they do it. Anyway, I going to post the PM here and get you some pictures.

I just signed up to a S&W forum and waiting for administrator approval. That's a first. Did the email thing and followed the link and was registered but now need further approval???

I want to get more information on the pistol which is why I did the forum thing. It was bought IIRC in 84 but was made IIRC in 80. There are a couple of things on the box sticker I don't remember the meaning of; INS with 72 written in and PKR with 15 written in. The clips are single stack 8's. 4" barrel. The pistol is a double action first-shot, oscillating wedge lock up, enclosed slide, uses the angled camming surfaces used in the Browning High Power for barrel unlock, Ser No: A 697 XXX, At 25 yards a 2" - 2 1\2" pattern is standard.

I'm trying to get all the information I can. My service sidearm was a modified version of this pistol and was officially named the Mk 22 Mod 0. It was known as the Hush Puppy though and the major differences are it was as built silenced and had a blued steel frame. All the Model 39's and 39-2's have aluminum frames except for some special ordered for steel frames and of course it's not silenced.

Other than this I need to wait to be approved. lol

If you're interested I can make arrangements with a local shop to have it shipped down to you. Again, it's only been fired 32 times and that was just this summer. It's spent 99.99% percent of it's life under my ownership in the safe.

I thought I'd recently heard somewhere about Mike playing with someone else. And it was a band that was much more mainstream than Mike's past catalog. Damn, I can't remember who it was but I'm pretty sure it would involve a jump from concert halls to stadiums. If he plays with Rush he'll be doing that anyway I guess!

Yep! I really had no reason to get it except for some nostalgia that's the last thing I want anything to do with now. It was what I would call today, squandering money. For the joy of shooting or doing some real target shooting I have much better choices than the 39-2. It's really not a gun for hunting and I have better choices for that but I haven't hunted in years anyway. For defense, I can only say it wouldn't be the last but it's way down on the list.

It's a fine handgun though and it is a S&W and the values of these have shot up. 9mm is just an in between caliber for anything I'd need. On the day something finally did go through it we also shot probably 500 rounds of 22's through various Mk I, II's and III's and had more fun doing it and saved a lot money for it. Do you still have yours?

River, I wish I could give that piece of history a new home, but I do believe that if I bought another gun before we refinanced the house my wife may very well kill me with it. Lol

I do believe that is more of your history than I had any idea of before now. Especially considering the units that carried the steel framed variant. I may ask you about this pistol again in a few months and see if you are still keen on letting it go; if you dont mind.
