Does it ever die (or almost die) when you come to a stop?

If it dies, or almost dies, it's probably your TCC solenoid. Otherwise, it could either be the TCC, or a valve body issue.

It does have enough fluid, right? Mine was a quart low once, and had one hell of a TCC slip.

Maybe the direct short took out part of the PCM, and it's an injector not working....
The PCM is my thought too. I'm going to pull the book. The trans goes thru a shift solenoid, right Whitey? I wonder if it hangs at neutral and not going into reverse? #7 is also now misfiring. 2, 4, 7 and 8 are on this coil. Coil shorted. He's changing that right now, Will advise when I get a call.

White The fluid is full and clean, and it does not stall or try to when coming to stop. It only did this twice in the last 2 months.

Coil cured the misfire. That's a start. I hate trying to diagnose a problem 60 miles away. lol

I told him to pull the pcm from the 150 in the yard and see if it will go into reverse. Not the correct Expy puter but same year 150 same engine/trans. Should give him an idea at least. I don't want t o to drive out there if I can help it. I told him to run the codes now, before pcm swap, leaving out p0304 and p0307. We will see what happens this way. Then he can swap pcms.

Yea, the PCM was most likley hit with some of that, the PCM ground is right there by the battery box on the FW. Not engaging reverse tho ? Huh, I don't know what that's about.

Thoughts before I go rip apart a repair manual??????
This happened to my parents Edge about a month after they bought it. The cause was a faulty sensor on the shift lever that tells the PCM what gear to go in to.

Edit: on the 97 Expedition the sensor is part of the neutral safety switch per Rockauto.

Forgot to get back about this. Livingston? County or township? For some reason I thought you were by Muskegon.

AK, so my Buddy got the OSS thing sorted out. Now he has reverse only - maybe our two Buddy's can pull together and get one operable trans, lol. He messed with the PRNDL/TRS while he had it out, so I sent him a video by FTM to show him how to set it.... easier than me trying to explain it over the phone.
