The OSS controls timing and fuel according to a generic 11th gen manual. Also mentioned is a "Max Towing Package" option identified by 7 lug rims and 410 rear end. Doesn't say anything more about it though.

Any chance the PCM is running the new engine with learned data from the old engine effecting how it's now running?

I doubt it.... the PCM was not powered for a good 9 or 10 months. I was waiting on him to get the money to repair it, and winter.

Everyone at work is sick right now for the 3rd time since September..... I'm starting to get the "tickle" in my throat. I hate being sick too! Somehow I managed to get around the first two rounds.... hoping to hold it off again!

Talk about a pain in the butt. I had to replace my input router from my carrier this past Friday. It changed to another type unit, from Amazon now. The new unit will not hook up the way the old unit did. If you plug in the extra line, as the prior unit used, it kills the system. My Tivo won't work. Very weird. I was told a repair guy would be out Friday. Nope. I went down Saturday and gave them a big piece of my mind. The guy told me to leave, I told him to screw himself. Get me a manager. I now have a working system. I hooked it up my way on Saturday, and today the repair guy showed up. He told me that there was no way that the system would work this way. It was working. He set up the system correctly, NOTHING. He played for over 30 minutes, only to set it to the way I had it. Why it works, makes no sense, but it is the only way it will work. Wednesday they are coming back and run all new lines and bring all new electronics. Something has to be shorted across for this to work this way they said. Weird weekend. LOL

Looking at the above post on the misfire. My buddy in Sutton called and wanted info. A friend put in a 24 group battery into his 97 Expy. He closed the hood, he shorted the battery to the panel. He now has a #4 misfire (4.6) and the trans won't shift into reverse. Forward yes. Vehicle was fine until the battery shrted.

Thoughts before I go rip apart a repair manual??????

Are you possibly using a managed switch, rather than unmanaged? Unmanaged switches are generally plug in and go.... but managed may require some setup.

That's a toughy, AK. Being a 97 4.6, I think the cylinder 4 misfire is probably just a coincidence, or you'd have a cylinder 8 misfire too (assuming spark is the issue). Trying to think of why you'd have forward, but no reverse that would be electronic.....

Maybe the direct short took out part of the PCM, and it's an injector not working....
