Thanks for the well wishes, AK. She is doing better than she was. No appendectomy was needed, luckily. They found an intestinal blockage/infection that was mimicking appendicitis. So she is on meds for that, and hopefully it clears up quick.
What are you using for ATF when you change the fluid in Red? I've been eyeing this Havoline stuff on Amazon. Was reading in the comments from a Ford employee that Ford granted a license for this stuff. I guess maybe not all Mercon V is created equal....?!?!?!?
I'll never use Mercon V again. Only because I never want to rebuild or work on the trans if I can help it. It all too much work...and cash. But IF that's all you want to afford, not much else to say...you may pay big later. At least V is better than the old Mercon....a little.
Ooops- sorry, ill try less jocularity! -
Right now its Lunch time! Ttyl guys!
Damn....I didn't realize that Bear was Father Mulcahy from MASH. Jocularity, Jocularity.
White.....using Merc V from Walmart. It is made by Valvoline, so I'm fairly confident that is decent TF. Ford's ATF's are all Valvoline anyways, so it's like keeping Motorcraft ATF in my truck. I went out and did some specing of ATF about 6 years ago, and found that Pennzoil, Valvoline and a version of Shell were who were making most of the US factory brands of ATF. Chrysler had some one else making theirs, and I couldn't find the manufacturer. Must be some off the wall company making theirs. lol When I worked for the local Chrysler dealer, Union Oil/Standard was delivering 55 gal drums of their stuff. We used it for a while and Chrysler made us go to a Texaco version. Now they are all the same company, and now I have no idea who supplies theirs.

LOL.... I love M*A*S*H. I watch it almost daily. I've got all 11 seasons loaded on my NAS with DNLA and it's on all the time.
I agree on the Valvoline. I almost ALWAYS use Valvoline for everything. In fact, I just bought some of the semi-synthetic 5W-20 at O'Reilly on Friday for the old girl.
Speaking of that..... the parts jockey at O'Reilly tried to tell me their MicroGuard filters are made by Wix.... I'm doubting it, but I need to look into it.

He is correct. Wix makes most Microgard filters. It is their secondary line, using the same basic cans. It is the valve and seal that are different than say Wix Gold. Otherwise, same paper and housing. I'll stick with the Motorcraft/Purolater filters. I like the silicone valve vs the rubber type, and I definitely like the back flow prevent valve in the Motorcraft. Especially over the Fram models (orange/black). In cold weather, no drain back is essential to keeping an engine in one piece. Motorcraft is my choice for this.
Pretty much decided to build a house, one of those energy efficient jobs. But man, it's going to be stick built but there's a lot of concrete flat work, basement and brick, that shii is expensive. I'm going to have to sell this one first and acquire camper to live out of for awhile on site to cover costs. Like to at least cash out what I can. Iduno, -looking at property fronting state land, secluded. Figure I better do it now, -getting too old for this crap lol. Retire in 2 years, hoping to finish by then.
