I would. the components in the TRS kit are miles better than the DDM stuff when you look at quality.

You can salvage your ballasts, dropping the price to $180.

Well, I ordered the projectors and a spare set of housings. I got the Harley housings since I kind of wanted that look anyway, I got the Apollo shrouds and 6000K bulbs (since I have a kit already). I didn't want to risk messing up my ONLY set of HLs, so thats the reason for the spare. Also, they told me that the aftermarket OEM style housings are a lot easier to get apart than real OEM ones... True or not, IDK, but I should have the projectors and housings on Monday... Will post pix of the process.

Total cost so far:
Projectors from TRS: $159 shipped
(New bulbs, Apollo shrouds, H13 adapter)
Replacement Housings: $108 shipped
(Local retailer)

So I've spent $300 so far, counting the original HID kit. The housings aren't going to be tip-top quality, but I don't want them to be.

Sounds awesome! Did you get the H13 harness from TRS? You will need to harness for high beam, it is different from the PnP harness since the projector controls the high beam not the bulb like the PnP kits.

And dont worry about the aftermarket housings, I used ebay housings too. It was VERY easy to get them apart. 6 minutes in the oven @ 240 and I pulled them apart in 30 seconds each.

If you guys want to keep the price down even more, ask them for the "value" mini H1 projectors. They have a miniscule blemish, but I couldnt even find the blemishs on mine and it drops the price another 50 bucks.

Yeah, I got the value Apollo shrouds... But not projectors. Oh well. I am happy about the price, but NO I didn't get a different harness for the high beam. IDK how it would be different, are you sure it's not going to work with my DDM H13 hi/lo kit?

If you are sure it's not the same as the Hi/Lo plug on the kit I already have, could you PM me with a pic, or post it on the forum so I can see it?

i would definitely like some pics of the retrofit and a write up would be awesome as well. i think i will stick with stock housings with a black background and get some HIDs for them. if i cant stand the light output or just decide to upgrade, i will already have the housing and ballasts for a retrofit.

Remember, the high beam is actually an actuator inside of the projector, not part of the bulb like the DDM kit.

Right. The DDM kit has high beam connectors for the bulb. the MiniH1 bixenon is actuated in the projector, not the bulb and has a different connector on the harness. looks like this:

You will need the H13 harness from TRS if you want high beam (trust me you want it, its awesome).
