When u were running the Evo with the CAI was your truck running too lean? and how long did u have that set up?
Because i am most likely going to buy the Evo from 4wheel parts and and run it till i get the tune From PHP.

Ive heard if you undo battery cable before you install intake then put it back on and program truck it should all learn together and not run lean not sure if its true or not.

That's what I did when I initially installed my intake, do you know if it would make a difference to undo it and unplug MAF now that I have a programmer? Tho I probably won't run the canned performance tune anyway cause I don't feel like buying 93 octane so it's probably just worth it to wait for my custom tunes...

Ive used this setup for over a year now with now problems (that I know of). That is part of the problem. I have never had a code thrown with using my AFE CAI and Flowmaster with the Edge but it doesnt mean my engine is A-OK. I believe that since the AFE CAI doesnt relocate the MAF to a location far away from stock one, that the whole running lean issue isnt as bad for me as other CAI's. I dont care if thats true or not but for me I havent had any indication of a problem using my setup. This is just my 2 cents and how I run my truck. I am not advocating this setup but this is just the direction I went and it has worked great for me over the last year that I have had my truck.

My Airaid didn't relocate my MAF at all... You can see in this picture that it's exactly where the factory one was located, does that mean I wouldn't run lean if I ran my other canned tunes?

I am not sure because my MAF is up right by the throttle body. I cant say for sure if you will be okay or not. I dont know if I am okay. I just know that my engine runs really well for 95,000 miles...(knock on wood). I only faintly hear the injector ticking and when I changed the spark plugs a couple months ago they were toast but nothing that would indicate any excessive wear from the intake or anything associated with that. I just dont know enough about engines/intakes/tuners to tell someone that their engine is good using certain combinations of tuners/intakes. I can only say what I have and what is/isnt working in my scenario. With that being said, it seems that if your MAF hasnt changed you should be okay to run canned tunes. Like you said before, since you arent running the 93 performance it will be much better on your truck. If I was to run the 93 performance I would feel way more comfortable if I had the custom tune.

My Air Aid uses the same location for the maf, and i also disconnected the battery when i did my intake. But that was just so my computer would recognize the change and quickly adjust to the new changes.
