OMG another problem....
Good to see you are doing your best to correct that oil pressure snafu/jinx. I still think a 5W30 synthetic is the way to go after the 1st oil change has broken in the pump. I have had a awful lot of miles with 5W30 instead of 5W20 and never a was sorry. You just loose a teensy bit of mileage. I just couldn't accept the start up noise on 5W20 but of course it isn't 20 below zero here ever..

Yes we are average -17 to -20 and sometimes colder but not like it was when in northern Alberta, so we are in low plus weather and don't mind doing another in less then 5k km so are you saying should go with 5W30 synth for first one, I have 300k km on this truck. Just so you guys know is that British Columbia is like California on emissions, so I just moved to BC from Alberta and so truck will need to get out of province inspection and you better be as stock as possible and not even a level kit or it will fail, so I will be putting truck back with all new vct solenoid and not going to the new and improved. But thx for all the great info one way or the other, should I be ordering the new/ old chain guides I believe from a 99 f150? Best place to buy, thx
Oh and one of tensioner so I can squeeze easy and other half as easy, so the passenger side was the very easy so I think it didn't keep chain tight and started to slap and break guides......

Hi guys I'm back, sorry had to rent another car for wife and I needed to use her suv for work as I was falling behind. I was waiting for parts and got most of what I was waiting for except gaskets and seals. So I got new high pressure oil pump on and pick up tube, oil pan on, axle and most of under truck on, this is where I will need some expert information from you guys please.
1-I was looking at where my key way and the bottom timing gear needs to be and says key way at 11 o'clock and when put gear on the dot should be at 6 right, well mine is bang on.
2- phasers next and there is a *** on the back so can't screw them up, so now I install me chain around bottom gear in the middle of the 2 dark links but when I pull the chain on one side or the other the 1 dark link does not end up in middle of R or L. And that is left and right when sitting in truck right.
3- so if I need to turn phasers but not the crank, how do I do that, or did I miss something.
4- I assume you need to keep the bottom of each chain tight to line up and slack is on the top to install tensioner right,
Thanks for any info you can give me on what I need to do with out pulling off cams....
Thanks

The single dark link is right on the 6 oclock gear dot . Make sure the R mark is up on the passenger side L is up on the drivers side .R =passenger, l= drivers .
No '1 piston is at TDC- cams should be facing on the correct way per manual no 1 and no 5. TDC can be determined with a small wooden dowel . If cams not right you could end up 180 degrees off .
No 1 is radiator side of passenger side . no 5 is drivers side towards radiator . IF all of this is close to correct you use phasor bolt to move cam slightly to line up .
Chain must be tight on non tensioner side , then you mount tensioner and then pull the pin on the tensioner . This sometimes takes two people ,as you are fighting some valve springs .
Final check is to turn motor by hand 2 revolutions to prove no obstruction between valves and pistons .A 32 mm socket will turn crank and fits over keyway .Of course this should be done with the plugs out . At this point you should be putting in new plugs anyway . You will not have full effect of tensioner on chain it will increase with oil pressure .
After rotating, the links will not line up for another 122 revolutions.
If you are confused at this point re-read svares final fix sticky until you fully grasp the timing . If you are not sure --you pull the chains and start from scratch . Another guy helping and understanding is a god send at this point . As 2 of you explain it to each other most mistakes will come to light .
good luck
