I got a little bit of whistling when i did mine, i also saw an increase in idol position by maybe a hundred rpms just because of the bigger piping in it now. Whistling could also mean air is escaping somewhere. Is the tube far enough inside the fenderwell? Is the couper fully on the stock airbox housing? I had whistling on mine at first too and i noticed that on the bottom of the air box was a little notch and the coupler didn't slip over it. So i had to slide coupler further up airbox.

The only thing I replaced was the 11" piece that goes into the fender and it goes in at least a couple of inches. I will check to make sure the lid is properly clamped onto the air box though, thanks for the input.

Gotts v. CAI??
Most agree that a custom tune is necessary after adding a CAI. What about the Gotts mod?
Is the air flow increased to the point of lean running w/ Gotts? Would a custom tune be necessary w/ the Gotts and cat back duals?

gotts mod is a cai but free. only difference is the filter and pipe thats the same diameter all the way through whereas the elbow in ours is bigger if you take the silencer out and we have rubber in some places. you could also buy a K&N filter if you wanted but its a waste imo. and if you really wanted you could make a cai easily. take a two pipes and a 90 degree elbow and put that in place of the stock stuff and just keep the filter housing thatd be pretty much the same exact thing

i agree with this that a Cai is very easily made on these trucks specifically with creating a gotts mod or sometihng like that. I thank ford for thinking outside the box in the aftermarket part they(ford) must have known us DIY'ers were going to look to change it so they made a reason for us to do so!!!! lol
